Title: New owner, Can I EFI my engine?
Post by: jellison on January 29, 2018, 11:10:19 AM
Just bought a 88 tin top with a 1.3 engine.  I will be taking it all around the country at different elevations and would to to put fuel injection on it.  Have not seen much on this subject.  Suggestions please.  Thanks.

It would probably be easier to start with a 1.6 Tracker or Sidekick and swap the engine & EFI systems across.

As long as you can find a complete EFI setup, it is pretty simple. I swapped EFI onto my 87 1.3.
You'll need the complete EFI intake manifold with everything attached to it, airbox and intake tube, the ignitor, coil, distributor, all the wiring harness that attaches to the ECM and all engine components, ECM, a high pressure fuel pump (I just swapped in an EFI fuel tank with the internal fuel pump) and I also recommend the fuel line from the tank to the engine. I used all the above components and it was basically remove old, swap in new, done.
I could have swapped an EFI 1.6 from a tracker/sidekick in, but I didn't have the need. The EFI 1.3 works fine for my set up.
