A guy in Victoria named Allan asked me to post a question for him because he’s having some trouble signing up on the board.
His question is about swapping a 2.0L Suzuki engine into his 91 Tracker. He wants to know what pieces he will need from the donor truck.
Any help would be appreciated.

He needs the engine (duh), trans, t-case, and modified wiring harness.

And about everything else connected to the engine. Brackets, wires, Exhaust, Basiclly everything he can get his hands on. Maybe the whooe parts car till its done.

I'd start with a tape measure because both the 2l motors went into trucks with a wider chassis. The 2l models ran 16 inch wheels ,presumably to allow bigger brake disks and callipers and it’s likely you would need to swap the front brakes as well. It would pay to check if the transport dept classify the vitara as passenger vehicle or a 4WD, if they call it a passenger vehicle you’ll find the engineer a lot stricter before he will pass it.

I don't see how the brakes would be relevent to anything in this thread....but I might be mistaken. I don't see how the engineer would have any issues with the swap, considering that it's the same truck, essentially. The main difference between the two trucks, is the age. As far as I know, the frame is the same width with the kicks and newer Vitaras. Also, the older kicks, namely the 96-98 Sports, had a 1.8 which is just a smaller (internally) version than the 2.0. That truck had exactly the same frame width as the regular kick. Yes, he will need all the miscellaneous engine junk that goes on and with that engine...wiring, mounts, accessories, manifolds, hoses, air cleaner junk, gas tank, etc., etc. ;D

It’s just occurred to me theirs Victoria in Canada as well as Australia so I guess you can forget most of my concerns. I do believe the 2l motor only went into the wider chassis models, at least in Australia anyway.

Surprise! Nope, the Sidekick Sports had a wider frame. That's why the Calmini lift kits do NOT work on the Sidekick Sport.

???I have a 2000 Tracker and it as well as the 96-98 SidekickSport has a wider chasis than the older
(non-sport) models. I also have a 2.0L and my truck came from the factory with 15" wheels.
I don't think the Vitaras were available with the 15" wheels though.
My biggest problem is finding aftermarket 15" wheels that will clear the calipers it's like the factory 15" are the only one's that will fit.

Not true.  :) The 2.0 liter engine will bolt to the 1.6 engines' transmissions and thus t-case. SO, get a Manual tranny 2.0 liter engine and harness and it is possible to use everything else from the 1.6 drivetrain. Of course, engine mounts will have to be fabricated.

??? What about the speed sensor for the computer? If you want it to run right there is alot of extras that need to be addressed. The computer for the 2.0 relies on all these paremeters. Fuel tank also has a fuel pressure sensor and evap system,if these things are not takin'
care of it could cause the motor to run rough or lean/rich condition.
