Title: Tightened the steering gear screw......stupid mistake?
Post by: WVzuk on November 08, 2018, 04:23:34 PM
Ok, so I have been trying to track down a wandering issue in the front end of the Sidekick.  Everything is tight as far as wheel bearing, tie rods etc. so I tightened down the steering gear screw all the way till snug and then back one turn.  I read that on a forum but i think it was for Chevys.  I later read elsewhere to just go 1/4 to 1/2 turn at a time.  I'm an idiot, I know...lol.

I have now lost the original starting point and am afraid of wearing out the steering gear or screwing something up.

How can I find the original starting point or what should I do now?

Thanks

Jon
