Title: Which Manual?

   I have a 94 Tracker, two door with automatic transmission. Which repair manual is better, Haynes or Chilton's? Thanks. ???

Try eBay for a CD copy of the FSM. You wouldn't believe how much better it is. Example, the TBI on the 8V is covered by over 100 pages, Haynes has 16 covering TBI, MPI and carb.

  I never thought about a factory manual. I just figured that manuals made for amaturs would be clearer and easy to follow. Does anyone sell hard copies. Any idea what FSM's sell for?  :-/

I couldn't tell you but it's got to be much better than the owner's manual. Went to change diff fluid, front and rear. Coulda shoulda had the dealership do it for $80. It was a windy day and this sucked. Sand blowing in your face. Then the dripping sprays everything oily. Found that original owner never changed anything, so I'll be doing the t-case as well. Looked in the owners to find quantity. There is a capacity for a transfer gear box oil for a 2wd, and it's more than the 4wd version!!! 2.2l compared to 1.7l.

Then to my surprise, the t-case takes gear oil 75w-90 GL-4 just like the manual tranny. Nowadays, the newer t-cases being aluminim and magnesium, take tranny fluid. Atleast the auto tranny takes Dextron III.
