I think quite a few guys have done this and I think there have been some pics posted on how to do it if you search for it.

I am going to swap mine out to a locker.  With my 6" lift the rear axle lower arms are at so much of an angle the the welded rear makes it wollow like a pig in mud taking turns on the street.

I will rework the lower arms making them longer and swap in a locker.

On a 2-3" lift it might be fine.   Definatly the cheap way out, mine was free.  I like it on my sammy.

welding the rear is ok, but it will tend to push when cornering ,making it harder to steer.   stan

I have mine welded. Wonderful off road, and on road, it is predictable. You never have the bang or clunk of a normal locker unlocking or locking up on you. It can be scary at times! Had a buddy with a jeep and a slinky suspension, and it would change lanes for him when it unlocked on the freeway doing 65! He use to be able to lift a wheel bout 2 feet of the ground when he cornered hard too.  8)
