Title: Is high idle bad for the engine and trans?
Post by: keith on February 26, 2004, 11:36:32 PM
As I have posted before my tracker's idle surges badly if I set the idle below 1200 rpm.  When set at 1200 or more the trucklet runs decently.  If I leave it like that am I hurting it long term.  It has almost 100k miles on it now.  I bought it 2000 miles ago and it has run good other than the high idle.  The idle is not so strong that the vehicle wants to take of the instant I let off the brake.  Other than the tach reading high it feels okay.  I have checked the rpm with an external tach so I know the tach is not the problem.  The trans is an automatic.  Thanks.

Mine has done that for years, I only got
265,000 miles on it tho, I'm not sure about
the long term effects yet  ;)
