just installed 2 new headlights today in my 89 sami, the pass side was going dim. Well after the new install I find the same thing.... bright driver side and real dim pass side, so dim it may as well be off!
anyone know what up with that? wires are all clean and tight. My head hurts from banging it on the brick wall all day tho  >:(

It sounds like a bad ground somewhere to me. Run a test wire from battery ground (-) to the headlight ground and see if that cures it. Then you'll know for sure if that's your problem.

More than likely, it's a blown fuse. As weird as it sounds, if the fuse is blown, there will be power to the headlight, but only enough to dimly light it....

Samis have a fuse for each headlight, as Crow stated,
if the fuse blows the bad headlight will find a ground (weakly)
and light up dim. Remember that most of the wiring harness switchs don't supply power they connect grounds.

Going to check into this fuse idea today.
Running the extra ground wire to the headlight from the bat. had no change.
If this don't work i'll just have to live with it.
