how long untill it's finished Heather ? can't wait to see pics when it's done.
-
what are you doing with the rear? longer coils?
Stu
-
Are you gonna be running leaves in the rear end too, to match up with the front?
Or you gonna keep the coil setup?
It looks good by the way. You gotta take some nice flex shots after its all said and done, so we can drool over them. ;D
-
If it's going to sit that high just off the springs, you can go to a larger tire. There is a rather large gap between the wheel well and the top of the tire. To add, have you thought of compression clearance when the tire swings back under spring compression? Looks like a lot of 'spacer' will be needed on those springs to align that castor. You'd be better off cutting off the spring pad, and rewelded in correctly. I do like how the pinion is facing the t-case.
I'm going to guess, to match the rear, you are going to keep coil, lower coil bucket or get taller springs, then elongate the control arms.

Already bought it!!! Hehehe YES!!!

If you look real close, you can see, if this is to be static, the front ds is hitting the crossmember......hehe. Ford's with TTB which go to SAS have the very same problem. So do a custom crossmember, some cut out a section and loop it up over the ds, some even took a pillow block bearing and used that on the strengthened crossmember. I've got a pillow block stock on my X! for the rear ds. I'll assume that you still have the stock t-case in rather than the OTT3 setup. So then the front ds would interfere with the crossmember even more so since the output will be back farther.

Find the rear DS from an XL7. It's a 2-pc with a pillow block. 2 best parts. One, it' slide right into the Kick t-case. Two, the pinion flange end is a true CV (not double carden). You'll just have to redrill the pinion flange and the CV is 3 bolt. And shorten it, of course.

Tim, how about strength? In my experience, the CV driveshafts have been weaker than the double cardans and single u-joints.

Here is actually a closeup of the crossmember that you saw in that picture:

The front DS is NOT hitting the crossmemer, and never would in this position. This shot is of the front DS in full droop as well.
However, We WILL be going with an OTT Kicker 3 setup, and will have to re-create crossmembers anyways.  So... this won't stay here.
;)
Heather.
Yep, we ARE still working on it, will have some more pictures later....
;D

how long untill it's finished Heather ? can't wait to see pics when it's done.
Well, we need to have EVERYTHING done with a little time to spare before moab, so hopefully, EVERYTHING (locker, tcase setup, sas etc) will be in and ready to go and finished within a month.

We are going to put leaf in the back with a spring over suspension. This is just to keep it so it matches the front..
;)

Um.. Like... uh.. DUH.
*grin*
We are seeing what we can do to go with a set of 35's.
However... we also are doing everything we can to make sure this baby will still fit in the garage!  :o
So, we will see.

Why does it have to match the front?
Stu
-
So it doesn't ride different. It would be hard to find coils to match the ride of the leafs.

By the sounds of it, I think your gonna need a new garage. :P

Gonna go with a 8' slide door? Bet no one in her neighborhood has one on their house.

so your saying all the trucks out there (broncos
to cherokees) with front coils and rear leafs have matching ride quality front to rear?
Stu
-
Well, it's not only that, it's the extra money it will take and the manpower it will require to fab stuff up to keep the coil in the back. It will need a considerable amount of extra height to match the front. It is cheaper, and easier, to just go with a spring over leaf suspension in the back.
Especially with Moab coming up so quick.

I'D SAY LOOKING FROM THIS ANGLE ITS GARAGE DAYS ARE OVER...... ;D (http:// http://www.whitepineclub.com/members/kd7hcg/pictures/SAS/sasday2/DCP_5218.jpg ) ;D BUT I BET YOU'VE GOT IT FIGURED OUT TO THE SLIGHTEST MARGIN ,TO FIT IN THERE...... :o MATTY D. 8)

Build it big, you can lower it a good 6" by droping to 0 psi rolling it out and airing back up ;) We found that out the hard way. Lifted a Jeep, new rims/tires and it would not clear the garage door :P We dropped the air down to where it's 42's were barely holding to the rim and backed it out ::)

Well, the XL7 has the highes HP, largest diff and biggest axle of any Zook. I think it will survive.

So Heather what calmini parts if any do you have for sale off of the front end? I want first dibs

Sorry man, UPS already has that stuff on it's way to Speedracer7c!

Heather,
35's? What will you be doing for the Birfs and inner shafts? The new axles coming out? Will they be ready by Moab? If not, what will you be running?
I'm interested in seeing how this works for you, mainly, to build a similar axle for my Samurai. I'm a purist, and fom a "purist" standpoint, that is about as pure as you can get and not be stock.
But my Sammy weights dirt (less than 2K), while my 4-dr GV has over a grand over it.. I'm thinking "someday" a OTT Kicker 2 and Toy axles in a coil-over 4-link front and rear would be pretty sweet. 35's on a GV would perform well off-road and look down-right mean.
-
How the hell do you all see and/or get so much info from pix of little red x's in little white boxes? I'm baffled................
Yah lots of stuff got moved on the site. This is an old thread ANYWAYS! *grin* look at the one that says "pics of day 2 and 3 have been added to the site".
LOL

We are getting custom chromoly shafts from OTT, and hardened birfs from Brent.
We will see how it turns out! I really like the whole idea of staying with Suzuki stuff. However, we will be using Jeep leafs (I think sammy ones are too weak for this setup)
