Title: manual hubs sticking
Post by: TonyBalgony on February 07, 2004, 02:22:12 PM
my hubs have recently descided to be tuff to turn.
Is this a sign?
Is there any maintenance required on manual hubs? ie. greasing or anything?

Thanks.
Tony

on my sidekick i had i sprayed them with wd40 and it helped, you should probably use grease if you have some i guess, they arent too complicated or anything, just like 6 allan key bolts to take it off

I'm going to start to grease mine up about once a year as soon as I find a good qaulity grease to use.  Mine have ceased up so bad some times, I can't even turn them with a pair of pliars.

I go through mine about twice a year (including bearings).  With all the mud and water I go through it's a good thing to do.  The mud gets in the seals and a little water gets in.

Pay attention and don't put too match grease in the hubs ! !

It overloads the inner spring, and sometimes it get stuck.
