Hey Track Kick guys, (at least those with experience on the rear ends of their trucks)
Can you email this guy and tell him that your Track/Kick has one long shaft and one short shaft? He is arguing with me that they are both the same length. Maybe send him a pic or something.
This after asking him on his ebay auctions which axle he was selling, the long or the short.
Here's his responses:

A sidekick rear axle is not one short one long they are both the same length.  These came out of one rear axle so they are matched.

Done ;) That is the exact reason that I am learry of buying parts off of ebay. Good intentions but knowing just enough to be dangerous. Some poor sole is going to be waiting for a part to get back on the road, anf have a 50/50 chance of getting the wrong side. Not to mention he probably would not refund/exchange because he thinks he knows what he is talking about.

I'd ask for the measurement length of the shaft from end (splines) to end (wms). I have a set of XL7s in the garage and can post pics and measurements later tonight. I think the pics might already be in the webshot album.
For some reason I can't get a picture to show when it comes from webshots. I thought it must be something for a password, but webshots in open public view. Oh well.
I think I may have done this about 1-2 months ago under xl-7 shafts. Do a search. (I can't do it as I'm writing this message and there isn't a 'draft' section.)

Here's is the subject line:'XL-7 Rear Axcle Shaft Info'. I didn't provide the overall length, but will later tonight.

Is his Ebay ID Zukgod? He has 2 Trackick axles on Ebay.
-
:oThis is news to me I thought they were equal in lenght. And here I was thinking I knew my truck inside and out. ::)
Just goes to show, your NEVER to old to learn something.

The only differential, non-steering, that I know, IIRC, which has equal length axle shafts is the stock Ford 9". Can't remember which model/yr, and if it's IIRC.

Yeah, thanks guys...
I probably won't buy his axles off of ebay, because of his attitude. But some people just have egos bigger than... I dunno.
Yeah, it's Zukgod.

XL7's axles measure ~27.75 and 30.5" respectively. This is measured from the wms to the end of the splines on the shaft with a simple tape measure. Hope this helps.
Ok, the shorter is left side (driver's), longer right side (passengers) as these were marked from the yard when originally removed. This probably helps alot for 'garage knowledge'.

wms = wheel mounting surface

i think this dork's ego is makin up for somehtin thats quite small :P ;) ;) ;) ;D ;D ;D

I thought they were the same ???
When I did the locker I kept them
apart and on their respective sides
of the trucklet, just for good measure.
Must be the drive shaft goes in the center
but the axle on the driven side of the diff
is longer to reach into the carrier ???
BTW Y would you part out just the axle
shafts, people that do this crap torque
my bolts >:( Like the jerk who pulled
the valve body out of the Auto Tranny
I wanted, just for a stupid little part,
and ruined a good trans. I mean if I
needed axles and asked for them that's
one thing but to take each piece off and
sell it on Ebay, damn cannibals, probably
would eat or sell their young too.

Valve Springs, I'm auctioning off the Intake
valve springs for a 8 valve 1.6L SideKick,
starting bid is only $20

Next auction, the valve stem keepers set of 4 to
match the valve springs

Eh, well it turns out I don't need this guy's auction anyways... I walked into a local salvage lot for a tie rod for the new SAS front we are building, and meandered my way over to a sidekick that was two vehicles over. Lo and behold there were two nice looking axle shafts just laying in the back of it. Got a good deal too.
