Hey how many of you have ran the calmini two in lift? Was it a good kit? I only wanna run 31 in mud terrains, and 5:88 gears, will this allow me to get the full flex out of the lift kit or no.
-
If you are just running the 2" lift you will rub 31's unless you do some finder trimming. I ran 29x10.50 Interco Thorinbirds on my Kick with the 2" lift and they rubbed a little bit with stock finders.
I realy like their 2" lift. I am know running the same kit on my X-90 that is my daily driver.

I really like the 2 inch kit and strongly urge someone who has no intention of adding winch bumpers and all kinds of other stuff to run the 2 inch. The ride is nice and the kit is simple and durable. The 3 inch is designed to have more flex but if your not carrying the added weight that it was designed for I would bet that the 2 inch would outflex it.
As for runnin 31s I think it will depend on how much offset your wheels will have. Ive seen 31s on a 2 inch lift tracker before. Im guessing that you may need to rolll the inner fender a little.

you guys are talking about with a body lift too right?

Even with the three in body lift , 31 in tires will Rub? I plan on running 2.75 off set wheels. And the calmini front whinch bumper, and their tire rack.
-
I'M RUBBING IN THE FRONT ON BUMPER & REAR OF FENDER WITH 32X9.50'S WITH THE CALMINI 6" COMBO LIFT ( WHICH I THOUGHT WAS SUPPOSED TO CLEAR ??? ) BUT A LITTLE TRIMMING AND SHE'LL BE GOOD TO GO I THINK...I'M GONNA TRY SOME 31X10.50'S FIRST THOUGH..THESE SWAMPERS SURE MAKE THE ZUKE VIBRATE ESPECIALLY AT LOWER SPEEDS...... :o MATTY D. 8)

It's the result of the large caverness space between the lugs. Stick your head out the window and listen to them purr as you pick up speed. Pretty coolllll....People can hear you coming.

My brother says he can hear me coming 1/4+ mile away ;D
-
I didn't see any front springs in that kit.
Am I wrong ???

Nope, just the suspension lift. I would not rub except for at full turn in the front and at full compression in the rear. If I was not running the T-Birds it would not of rubbed at all (the large side lugs were the only thing that hit)

I think that they say that 32x9.50 fit with no rub if you do minor triming ???

Sorry, I meant to quote NY :P

No, you are corect. You use your factory springs set in the new control arms on the front, and add new rear springs.

I think I remember talking to them when I put mine on and when you use their kit you need a smaller back spaced wheel.
This will put the tirer out further and clear the fenders and frame.
I went with a common 2.5" back spacing and had to trim a little off the back of the front fenders. Other than that my 32/11.5 R15 clear everything through their full travel.

Well after reading all this, its settled, Calmini 2inch lift for me!
-
are the a arms the same from the 2 and 3 in kit?
stu
-
No, they are made for different ride hights.

You can see the difference.

i dunno, they look almost the same. a little more braceing on the 3in.

I've installed both lifts on kick's before. The spring pocket is a slightly different position between the two arms. I'm not sure, but I think the 3" arms are just about the same spring pocket as the stock arms, just a heavier design with a different ball joint angle (but I could be wrong about that). If you have Heather post some pics about her 95 4dr suspension, you'll see that she uses the Calmini 2" with different front springs and BDS lift TJ springs with a modified 3" body lift and with a little creative sheetmetal work, she clears 33s with no problem! Can't wait till she goes SAS!!! ;D

Heather, what is your web site, or please list the mods you have done to your 2in lift? Part numbers if at all possible.

Here's what I am running with my Calmini 2 inch. However, we like to custom make a lot of our stuff, it's a lot cheaper that way, especially if you have buddies with welders, BFHs, Cutting Tools, and torches. ;)
I am running Rancho 5115 shocks in the back, they work well and allow for about 2 inches more droop than the Calmini ones. I also ran OEM (FRONT!) Jeep TJ springs in the back, but upgraded to the 2" Lifted BDS Front TJ Springs. I have a heavy butt on my truck, if you haven't seen the bumper. *grin*
I also ran Daystar Jeep TJ Spring Spacers 1 3/4" in the back for a long time, but took them out with the BDS springs.
We have a custom extended wheelbase:
http://www.whitepineclub.com/members/kd7hcg/pictures/wheelbaseext/index.htm
That was to fit the 33's... The rears in 4 Doors are different than that of 2 doors, so some of you might not have this problem.
And we are running longer I don't know what they are coil springs in the front.

I WENT BACK AND LOOKED BECAUSE I WAS WONDERING IF I MISSED THAT BUT ITS NOT THERE...I'M GONNA PROBABLY SEE IF MY NEIGHBOR WILL TRIM THE REAR OF THE FENDER & BUMPER.....MATTY D. 8)

I'm hoping that with 2 inch suspension and 3 inch body i can run 31X9.50's with the stock bumpers without having to do much trimming.

I'd say this is probably very do-able, but keep the angle grinder/BFH handy... :D

So no one really answered my Quetion. If I plan on running 31/10.5/R15, will the two inch lift kit be a good choice. Would I be able to get the full flex out of this kit with this big of a tire. Please keep in mind that I plan on running the front calmini winch bumper, and a 8,000 lb.winch, and thier tire carrier. Will this weigh it down too much limiting the travel of the two in. lift kit?. The three in. kit is about $300 out of my range if ya know whata mean. Thank you for all of the replies pertaining to my questions.

Yes. If you run a wide wheel it could be close in the front on the turns.
