I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for ditching the stock fan in favor of an electric fan. Cause I noticed when wheelin hard my temp seems to like to creep up. I was debating on wether on not to goto a lower temp thermostat but I decided against that. Any suggestions or Ideas are appreciated.

I have AC on mine and it comes with an additional electric fan on the front of the rad.
I've thought of putting a switch on it so that I can turnit on and off myself for such suituations.
You might think of adding a fan that way.  I have a friend that had just an electric fan on just a switch and kept forgeting to turn it on and had all kind of problems with it.
Also, there's no electric fan that can match your mechanical one.  You can get close but can't match it.

Maybe I will do an electic fan as well as the mechanical. I just want it to run as normal as possible when running it hard.

I run a elec. fan on my 8v and even running hard like towing it will not heat up. Forget about running both elec. and manual fans just go elec. I run a 16in fan and that is the biggist one that would fit.

I had an electric 16" fan, had to change
back to the belt driven one, not enough
air flow to keep the intercooler and the
radiator cooled off. I don't suppose the
extra heat from the turbo had anything
to do with it ::)

sorry to jump a little off topic, but whats wrong with just changing your thermostat? not radically, just like a step down, if they go like that. it might run a LITTLE cool in the winter, but i dont think it would be too drastic of a change

I had asked that in my question, I dont' see whats wrong with it either, But who knows. Maybe I will try that before resorting to an electric fan. What is the stock thermostat at? 180? Thanks ,Andrew

Here in Japan, in the summer time a lot of people just run their Jimnys with out a thermostat at all, but I can't say whether or not it is the best thing to do.

It is not good to run without a thermostat at all, cause the coolant flows too fast and doesn't properly heat the head up, which can result in a cracked head.

Also, if you like the mud and underwater excursions there might be some problems associated w/ electric fans.

The only temps of thermostats I have
found are stock 180* and 160*, I really
wanted a 170* but never could find one.
Now it may be available if special ordered
but I have never tried.
BTW I run a 160* and heater is just warm
in the cold (ya right So. Cal. Cold) winter
which is about 30* here and 15* in the
Mountains :)

ya winter around here its almose 25 below. a tid bit colder that so cal.

Actually i run a electric fan because i go in deep water, i have a switch in the cabin so i can turn it off.
Belt driven fans have been known to crack/break off blades upon hitting rising water while spinning.
+ your engine should spin up a little faster without the extra drag of the fan

Mine has dual 12" fans with a adjustable thermostat. Seems to be plenty to keep the V-6 cool.
