I just use it to tow my butt around  :)  The 2 door is rated at 1000 lbs.  That would be enough for a trailer and ATV, but I wonder if the motor puts out enough power to handle the extra weight.  I would have no qualms about towing with the V-6 in the grand.

I've had a 00 Tracker, 2dr, 4wd, a.6l, 5-sp. I used a 3500# rated hitch frame which bolted to the frame. It's a 2" setup. I've used it to tow a 4x6 3500# utility trailer. I never loaded the trailer that heavy, but it's been loaded near 2000#'s. Not a problem. I've also towed a 16' Scamp camper from Columbia, SC to KC. The camper was just your basic camper with no propane tank, battery, empty water tank and I didn't use any trailer brake setup. No problem towing that. Then when camper was loaded, it was a lot slower in speed and took longer to brake. Now that same hitch frame is on my XL-7. I've sold off the Tracker and use the XL7. As a matter of fact, I just got back from towing a heavy mod'd Sami (~3000#'s) from OH back to KC on a tow dolly. Pics are in the Sami-HT webshots album. The Boggers, 2 are in the back of the X, other 2 in the back of the Sami.

i towed my rally escort (http://www.kielbassa.com/rallyescort/) across the yard and behind the garage while it was in park (no battery, didnt feel like getting one out of the garage to get it into neutral).

but that's more of pulling not towing :P

I have, however, been thinking about welding a ball onto the cross thinger underneath the bumper to pull my 12ft boat to the lake...

I just ordred a hitch from here  http://www.drawtite-hitches.com/index.htm  They only make class 1 hitches for Sidekicks.  I'm gonna use it to get my MX bike to the track.  But, I have a 2.0L V6 not a 1.6L 4.

I tow my  14 ft fiberglass powerboat.  It looks like it trying to mate with my zuki.  I wouldn't take it on a highway, but I can travel at top speed with it.  I got the stock sammy trailer bar and had a shop bracket on a 2" univ. receiver.  The guy told me not to tow any big trailers with it.

Have you thought about making the bumper with a receiver hitch in it? You would be better off, you have a modular setup if you do. If you lift, you won't have to have a funky angle on the trailer tongue, you can just get the appropriate drop stinger for the hitch.
