Title: OK whats the beef?
Post by: Speedracer7c on January 31, 2004, 03:49:08 PM
Alright, So after browsing RRO's website, in almost everything I see they are totally dissing calmini.

"The ARB Bull Bar is a battering ram. It is air bag compatible. And is really the only serious offroad Sidekick/Tracker bumper on the market we've seen that doesn't look like a 'high school shop project'. ARB copies are popping up at some California based retail outlets, but their copy-cat bumpers just don't equal the quality and strength of the ARB Bull Bar"

So they are slammin their bumpers.

"They're also be priced well below the competition (who charge a crazy $975). "

Obviously calmini, their only competition.

"You also get better flex from our system since the California based suspensions are using STOCK struts with spacer brackets stuck on top, then give it some sort of superdee-duperdee articulating name. With stock length struts and spacers? Who are they kidding! No wonder there are so many pieces stuck in those ill-fitted kits! "

Hmmm........wonder who that is...calmini. Is it me or can they just not sell any of their stuff and need to make themselves feel better about it? If everything is so much better why don't they prove it.

i was thinking the same thing when i first saw their description on the arb bumper at RR... the calmini one looks 100 times better... that one looks like ass, battering ram or not.

must be having trouble moving their products.

Edit: in the bumper page they also contradict themselves:

(saying competitions bumpers look bad)

Quote
While other U.S. (California) companies may have nice-looking bumpers, you can guarantee they're not crash testing their bumper
(saying competitions bumpers look good)

confusing... ???

To me that is poor advertising. It sure doesn't make me want to buy their product any more. I just think that bashing them isn't going to help them in the long run.

WHEN I FIRST WAS LOOKING TO GET ANOTHER ZUKE TO LIFT...I FOUND ROCKY ROAD ...BUT IT WAS THE  DEMEANER  IN THERE WEBSIGHT THAT MADE ME LOOK FOR SOME OTHER OPTIONS....THATS WHEN I FOUND Z.W. & CALMINI....THE REST IS HISTORY  ;D  I DON'T CARE IF THEY DID HAVE BETTER STUFF WITH THAT PISS POOR ATTITUDE THERE WEB PAGE DISPLAYS IT WOULD BE HARD TO DO BUSINESS WITH THEM ...JUST MY THOUGHT BUT I KNOW MY OPINION OF THEM WOULDN'T MAKE THEM CHANGE THERE WEBSIGHT TO A POSITIVE ASPECT ON THERE PRODUCT RATHER THAN A NEGATIVE ONE ON A CALIFORNIA BASED COMPANY (CALMINI) SO AS LONG AS THEY HAVE POOR BUSINESSMANSHIP I'LL BUY FROM THE CA. COMPANY........MATTY D.  ;D

Implied, but not directly stated  :P

I liked their attitude when I first came
across the site, but I'm rethinking the
whole thing now,  :P  kind of a na na na
I'm better than you, kind of thing going
there.

I applied for the Designer/Fabricator position,
as I think they need some help in the ideas
and development Dept.  I thought up a Slip
Yoke Eliminator before I saw the one CalMini
introduced in the SAS Kick that we all have been
waiting for more info on.

I almost every situation I have encountered the one talking shit is the one trying to "proove" something, while the true bad ass is sitting back quietly watching the other make an ass out of them selves. If they did not feel inferior to "the California Companies" they would not feel the need to talk shit about their products. I believe that Calmini has the best products on the market for Kicks, and that is why I always call them first.

I've dealt with both RR and Calmini, and from the experiences with them in person, RR has done well for me.  The quality and price of the stuff I have gotten from RR has been good, and the customer service has been very good.  I agree that they could make their website comments a little more professional, but other than that, I have been very pleased with them.

On the advertising issues, I agree with most of the posts here.  However, my truck has a large amount of RRO stuff on it.  Most of my purchases were prior to finding the ZukiWorld site, so I did a lot of vendor site surfing. I must say, I've never had any negative issues w/ RRO or Glenn, their stuff is solid and reasonably priced.  The big factor for why I chose the RRO SPO lift was RRO had the only bolt-on system at the time.  I have also dealt w/ Calmini for my tcase gears, and they too were helpful and the parts are excellent and function well. I've dealt w/ Trail Tuff, Roadless Gear and NorthCoast OffRoad also, and they were equally as pleasant to deel with! As far as one bumper vs. the next, buy what works for you $$, quality, looks, etc. (how it is advertised doesn't affect anything, it is a free country still is it not?) I'm not saying slamming anyone is right or wrong, but as a consumer you need to make a decision based on what works for you.

Personally, I'm digging the Shrock armor, looks solid, price seems good and I like the front full hoop w/ the built in turn signals.  That's my choice for a bumper when I can afford it  ;)
