I know Mrfuelish has power steering in his Sami. He has the 16v 1.6 though, but I think he just used the stock sidekick stuff. It would prob be the easiest, atleast the pump anyways it should just bolt right on dont know about the box. You prob could fab a mount for it though, I dont think it could be to difficult. I may be wrong though dont know much about Sami's. Hope this helped though.

my buddy did some searching on the net and he found a few people have used the early 80's toyota celica box and pump 2 of the three bolts line up just had to drill and sleave the third hole in the frame . there is someone out there (zuki shop in b.c. canada) that makes the pitman arm with the proper taper to connect to the zuki drag link .almost a complete bolt on . we did this conversion on his sammy .he loves it , runs 35 inch tires
the shop where he ordered the pitman arm from told him the box is way stronger than the sidekick box and can handle the stress of up to 38 inch tires .
my buddy has since passed away (brain cancer). and i can't remember the name of the shop ,but they did have a web site . if you realy want more info maybe i can go get some pics of the conversion . his brother still has the truck .

Just yesterday I asked this same question of Brent at Trail Tough. He likes the Sidekick box because no adapter is necessary. One of the boltholes lines up. You bolt the box on, mark and drill the holes for the other two bolts. Use 1/4" pipe and make a sleve that goes through the holes for the mounting bolts to pass through. Weld these on the outside of the frame. That way when you tighten down you don't crush your frame. I asked if this was strong enough. He indicated he has sold and installed hundreds and never a return
He sells a kit that connects the box to the steering shaft. This eleminates the rag joint.

I have an 87 1.3 sami that I put toyota powersteering on. I used an 1980 corona box and pump. The bracket and 1" adapter plate was from Petroworks.(if I remember right) I told them I had A/C so I could use the compressor for my onboard air setup. I never tried the sidekick pump and box because I heard it's pretty weak. The side kick would be an easier adaptation but may not be enough power. With 31 x 11.5 LTB's I can effortlessly turn the wheel. One of the biggest recomendations I can give is to run a big tranny style cooler for the fluid because it gets hot on the trails.

Thankyou all ;D

Here is a setup on eBay:
With hydro assist option if you wanted too!

Be advised this is NOT the system you can just bolt on your sami. Look closer, the box is an out board mount on the frame rail unlike the Sami and Corona. Also the some of the truck pumps won't mount to the brackets from most company's. About the only item you can use is the resevoir.
Also check this site out, it's what you need. http://www.rocky-road.com/powersteer.html
Be sure to view entire link to see what year celica/corona parts work.
Here is a pic of everything I used on my truck.(minus the idler which could be used if no A/C compressor is present) The pitman arm from the Corona was drilled and a taper hole bushing was pressed in then welded. If someone needs this done I could do this, just e-mail me.

Thankyou all i think iam going with the tracker setup ;D

Good idea, that is the exact same setup that I've been running in mine for years from Trailtough, easy to install, and works great. I guess with bigger tires like 35s, eventually I will have to upgrade to an early 80s Mitsubishi pickup ps pump because it has mor flow capacity and slightly higher pressure, but is pretty much a bolt on replacement.

Yeah, Jake Palmberg... The huge red Samurai on 'Mog axles with the really cool decals on the rocker panels. :) He's here on the forum...
FWIW, I did the Calmini bolt on kit for my Red Samurai "wedgee" that has the D44 and the 35 inchers on it. Haven't had any problems and it turns one two fingered easily. Actually, it even got easier to turn with the new Sky hi-steer arms because the ratio was slowed / torque multiplied by having the drag link further out than the tie-rod on the arms.
Good luck on you selection.

You dont nesc. have to change out your pump you can drill out the restricter palte on th stock kick and get additional flow. it will turn 37 boggers without a problem
