Hi there, I had a brainstorm the other day and am wondering if anyone has tried it.
I was thinking about using the bikini top with the rear of the hard top thus giving the best of both worlds. The security and weather tightness of the hard top, but being able to flip the bikini back for the "sunroof" like the soft top can do. Think this is possible?
let me know.

I have a two piece hard top and I can take the front (targa) piece off in a matter of seconds.
If you had a two piece hard top, you could use the back section and a bikini top.

Sorry, I should add that the reason I want to do this is because I don't have the front panel and think it would be cool to have a half and half sfot/hard top. But if it won't work, I'll have to buy a front panel instead of the Bikini.

On which trucklet ??

The Bikini top I have uses the wire things
that holds the side windows down to tighten
the top with, if these stay on then maybe.
I don't have a hard and don't know if you can
use the hard top with the Convertable hardware.
The Bikini also goes over the weather striping
that is around the top towards the back so the
hard top also might not seal properly and be
water tight. :-/

Does yours have the bars over head like the samurai going from the roll bar to the windshield?

I agree with Wild, I dont think it will work. My best top wraps around the back of the targa bar cnnecting to the two snaps on the bottom of the bar and would cause a bad seal. Then their is also two rear straps that run down the back of both sides of the targa bar connecting to the side soft top frame. Also, if you are looking for a good enclousure, the bikini is not for you. They will stretch and bubble up after about 20 minutes of interstate riding in warm to hot weather. They dont do alot but keep you shaded and keep most of the rain off of you.

I ran my 87 Samurai like that last fall for a couple of weeks - it worked surprisingly well, except you can't take the bikini off very quickly becuse the hardtop traps it against the targa bar where it seals. But you can pop the front clamps on the hardtop, remove the bikini then clamp back down it only takes a couple of minutes.
I say give it a try on your sidekick and see how it works. Have fun!

On the SideKick the A pillar and B pillar are tied together
with a permanent connection, it's not a removable section,
it's part of the body, so yes it has a form of bar, but not like
the Samurai.
So Zig, the part of the "roof" section on top of the B pillar
is called a Targa Bar, thanks I didn't know how to
describe it, it's too small to be a roof, as it's like a foot
wide. LOL

Targa Bar, small Roof, what's the difference ::)

If you are dead set on using the hart top rear half with the bikini front, try getting a BestTop Sunport. That way, you can get the front to seal properly using the rear hardtop. They use a track on top of the targa bar to latch the rear of the bikini portion, but still have enough clearence for the hard top to seal. ;D
