anyone have any 15x12 rims for a samurai with 2" or less backspacing? know where to get any cheap, i need 5 of them but will settle for 4. lmk, also, i have the calmini super 5" lift what do you all think i should do to make these fit, body lift or spoa? any cheap driveshaft(especially front) reccommendations? 6feet

I agree with your want for low backspacing but 12"s are too wide for those tires. When you air them down to 3 or 4 psi your going to have problems keeping em on the beads. That tire on a Sami needs to go that low to preform really well off road. We have several guys running them on their sammis in our club and they have problems keeping them on their beads with 10's. 3 of our guys are running them on 8's for that reason. Id go with a 10 inch painted wheel. Chrome wheels seem to blow beads easier. I think they might just be too smooth.
My 2 cents

Get a set of 8" black Rockcrawlers, about $40
each and available in an assortment of
back space opptions.
Mike is right about the width, Like I said in
the Rims Post Mikey ...... He knows everything ;)

What back spacing do i need to run a 10.50 tire?
-
I run 33x12.50-15's on 8"wide rims that have 3" backspacing. I havent had any problems.

that heavy of a tire + steel wheels, I hope you're only in mud - otherwise, I see a nice KABOOM in your future.

right on man you guys rock, ok here is what i am worried about, i currently have 15x8 rims with 2" backspacing on my samurai with 31x11.5 tires without bogger claws sticking out theyre just kind of flat on the sides, anyway they allready rub a little bit on my leaf springs when im all the way to one side or the other, if i were to mount the tires on these rims i wouldnt be able to turn at all. i am thinking i need to go with 10 inch wide to minimize the amount sticking out on the inside with the back of the lug holes one inch from the back of the rim. has anyone done this or had a different solution besides using wheel spacers, i dont want to use any. thanks in advance to all but speedracer(start another topic please) 6feet

"thanks in advance to all but speedracer(start another topic please) 6feet " WHY ITS ON THE SAME LINES OF THIS DISCUSSION ??? JUST WONDERING ....NOT MUCH TIME ON A BBS ..IS IT AGAINST PROPER POSTING OR SOMETHING,,,,,,,,,
-
well truthfully im not all that against it man but some people call it thread-jacking and i am about to spend a lot of money real soon mebe even in a couple of minutes so i am watching this specific thread very closely trying to find a difinitive answer to my specific problem and do not want the topic to sidetrack. all i am sayin is it takes the same amount of effort to type it under a new topic wich is on the topic list and easier for all to see as well as answer his question. sorry if it sounded mean i just want to build my zook as fast as possible with my tax return in the bank burning a hole in my pocket. :-/.....still looking for answers, thanks in advance, 6 feet ;)

its all good my suzuki brothren hehe here is what i think i am gonna do, i am keeping the shackle reversal for the smooth street ride, and am going spoa 5" on top of my calmini 5" super lift for a total of 10" of suspension lift, putting on my z link, extending the brake lines, getting a 3" extended front driveshaft free from a good friend and using one or two as needed driveshaft spacers in the rear, just looking for 2" backspaced 10" rims, 4 or 5 of them preferably 5 but i can pick one up from the store later. does this sound like the best way to deal with the 33x14x15 mudders? discuss!!
-
wildgoody, i want to keep the inside of the tires as far away from the leafsprings as possible, i am not sure if they will clear with 8" rims, if so i could just buy a spacer for my15x8" rims i allready have, hummmmmm i do havve a capable machine shop at work that could make me 2" spacers out of steel, hummmmmmmmmm
discuss!!!
;D

Shackle Reversal ....... Sweet
10" lift .......... Sweet
10" Wheels on a sammy will look great
not as good on a SideKick
I think you should go for it, send pics, Lots of pics
;D
-
do you think it would look too squished in an 8" rim? i mean theyre 14" wide prolly more like 15". :o
-
feeling rim-a-rexick hehehe :P
-
The backspacing is what will make the
difference in leafspring to tire contact
The smaller the backspace, the farther
out the tire is from the springs, 10" wide
will just put the outside of the tire out farther
-
i disagree ;D the tire will bulge out evenly on either side wether 8" or 10" wide but at 8" wide they will bulge out more on either side thus making the tire stick out more than on a 10" rim right where i dont want it too. :P :)
-
i agree about the backspacing though! ;D
-
damn i am really feeling like getting some 2" spacers made |removethispart|@ work now, i can get 5 of them so my spare will fit on the stock perch :o

beats buyin new rims as well i allready have 5 of them ;) is it worth it? i think i can mount the tires then figure out how much i really need, making them a perfect fit. oh yeah!! what do u guys think, are they safe enough? i know they are aluminum but i could have them made of steel. ;D
-
Ya, Your right about the bulging out
and the tires are almost 14" wide, so
follow the reccomended rim width
-
I think spacers are a bad idea, hard on the wheel
stud, they will be more prone to breaking and that's
not good going down the road with 10" lift :o
-
i dunno though theyre so damn light ::)
-
have run 33x14 boggers on my old sammy. used 15x10 2.5bs wheels worked fine no rubbing.as for lift had spring over with 4in bds springs worked well except for driveshaft angles kind of extreme.
-
Hey
Off topic, but CajunKick do you still have those headers for sale?
Thanks
