Seeing as you already live in the State, shipping should be no problem.  I got a great deal and saved like $40CDN on my filter!

As for pics I don't have any sorry.  I really want to buy a cheapo digital camera for that sort of thing.

Think I'm gonna have to jump in and get the K&N when I get paid tomorrow, only 33 bucks or something like that from Summit Racing anyway.  I'm sure the Paper POS that's in there isn't helping me in any way shape or form and it's due for a replacement anyway.

That's the beauty of K&N, they last forever...well almost.  Their filters are washable and reusable.  How amazing is that?

Yep, I have a pair of em on my 240z (nifty little 6" round individual filters)  Got to get rid of the ugly orange stock air box that way too although once I convert it to EFI they won't be needed anymore :(

Ive watched some dyno tests at a friends shop. A K&N on a V-8 was worth 15hp over a stock filter. They both lost hp against running no filter but the K&N is definately better.

I like 34.95 better myself.

Gotta pay shipping either way.

K&N's part number is 33-2700

Checker and Autozone want 39 bucks or so for one.

One way or the other it seems like the attention you'd attract wouldn't be a good thing.  If they see it as a speaker they might just break in, if they think you have a bunch of fancy expensive stuff under the hood they might think about taking the whole thing to strip.

Ive used NOS for a long time on street cars. The kits for 4bangers is very safe. I dynoed an engine with NOS and the exhaust temps stayed the same. The big thing with NOS is make sure you keep your fuel system up in good working order. The import NOS kits can be set as low as 35hp which is plenty safe for these motors. With that small of hp you dont need to do anything with the timing or sparkplugs. If anyone wants more info give me an email and Ill tell you what you need to know.

The only problem with NOS is that when I want more power it's for going down the road.  I don't think they make big enoff bottles and I couldn't afford to fill it.  :o

The biggest improvment is a Cal-Mini
exhaust system and a big muffler bearing
good for 75 to 80 HP and 50 MPH
higher top speed.
Title: Re: Ordered K&N filter today.  Will have 2hp
Post by: lil_Truck on January 04, 2004, 11:17:58 AM
What is the speed raiting of the muffler bearing???  And do you use one for each exhaust valve?  Does this work with your turbo?

Also, do you use this with a free flowing baffle system?
Title: Re: Ordered K&N filter today.  Will have 2hp

You just need one, and it don't matter
what muffler you use it makes all muffs
faster.

liltruck, I once saw a company selling a NOS bottle that was like one of those big Co2 welding bottles. With a little kit you could probably go 300 miles between fillups. ;)

Is that new muffler bearing intercooled?? ???
Title: Re: Ordered K&N filter today.  Will have 2hp

Yea, but what if the sun isn't out?  Or if you want to do some night wheeling.

Are you going to have a dead muffler bearing?  There's nothing worse than a dead muffler bearing.  You might get a build up of back pressures and then where will you be?

Title: Re: Ordered K&N filter today.  Will have 2hp
Post by: wildgoody on January 04, 2004, 12:45:59 PM
Yes the accumulator feeds into the after burner
thats why I need a bigger fuel tank, at about 10
GPM one tank don't last long, It's a wild ride tho

Post by: bandit86 on January 04, 2004, 12:53:16 PM
With all that horsepower you have to get your truck to stop better. Get some cross drilled rotors, and some cross drilled brake lines so that your brake fluid doesnt heat up.

I just installed the engine oil bypass system, instead of routing oil through my engine where it gets dirty, It stays nice and clean, I can get about75000miles between changes now.  I also got the K%N air filter bypass kit for some serious air flow.

Also for night driving, I changed my headlight fluid to halogen, I think the car is a little faster and the headlights now have that cool blue tint to them
Title: Re: Ordered K&N filter today.  Will have 2hp
Post by: wildgoody on January 04, 2004, 01:02:53 PM
Well I'm running the 4 door brakes, which work
great, and I'll be installing rear disks too, what
is the supplier for your cross drilled brake lines??
and I'm supprised you just changed to Halogen
Head Light Fluid, I'm running Xeon Head Light Fluid
and it gives whiter brighter lights than just the standard
Halogen stuff.

Engine oil Bypass huh, I'll have to look into that, at 75,000
miles per oil change I couls save lots of money on Motor Oil.
Title: Re: Ordered K&N filter today.  Will have 2hp
Post by: bandit86 on January 04, 2004, 01:09:24 PM
If you relocate one of your wipers to the middle, you can really save some $$$$$$ on only having to buy half a pair.

P.S. The crossdrilled brake line has to change as pairs so you will no have different pressures on opposite sides of the car.  I almost found that out the hard way.
Title: Re: Ordered K&N filter today.  Will have 2hp
Post by: lil_Truck on January 04, 2004, 01:12:21 PM
I thought these engines were good for 100,000 miles between oil changes???

You know if you grease you brake pads every 1,000 miles they'll last forever!  I'm thinking of putting a grease zert in mine.

Title: Re: Ordered K&N filter today.  Will have 2hp
Post by: wildgoody on January 04, 2004, 01:20:29 PM
A zerk in the pad, that's old style,
route a line from the front wheel bearings
to the pads, then when you fill the front bearings
the old grease automaticaly re-greases the pads,
way more trick, and you are recycleing too, remember
Earth Friendly  ;D

Pure NOS ?? Great Idea, then when I wheel at night
the after burner gets the excess and I develop 3
times more thrust  ;D ;D

Post by: ksa421 on January 04, 2004, 01:24:07 PM
Yeah just put some spark plugs in your exhaust pipes, instant after burners thats good for 2 seconds off your 1/4 mile time atleast and 100hp bare min. also good for getting people to quit tailgaiting you.

I dont like greasing pads, I know they last longer, but it looks messy, unless you get the expensive flourescent colored greese.  I opted to make my own spacer kit so that under no circumstance will I at any brake pedal pressure ever touch the rotors.  I might try to sell some on ebay, they work really good.

Anybody ever ran a vacuum tube from your intake manifold to your exhaust manifold?  1st it helps to create a vacuum in your exhaust system for better exhaust flow 2nd, because you have better air flow, it keeps your muffler bearing from carboning up, hence lasts longer.

if you buy the racing wing with the carbon fiber wing and aluminum brace(weight is of the utmost importance here) and mount it on your hood....but backwards so it will pull the front end up when you hit the mud hole and viola you should sail right through, mount one on the back and your untouchable!

Well Mike when you get that Flux Cap online make
sure you visit the Suzuki Designers responsible for
the Sidekick, show them all the mods you have and
make sure to hit them up for the turbo Diesel or a
2.8 V6, and get all the good stuff in there as standard
equipment, Lift, Lockers, bigger tires you get the Idea
but now remember you go to get back before they get
really serious about the puny one they were going to
design, now when I buy my SideKick again in 89' I won't
have to figure all this stuff out and just be able to go
out and SideKick ass and take names on all those H##ps.

Ohh ya and run over the Consumer Reports guy that
slandered the Sammie and cost Suzuki all those Millions
of dollars and the loss of the best entry level SUV available.

That should just about set history right,

Sadly Zukipilot, it could actually have some benefit depending where it's placed and how it's designed.  It could be made to help crosswind stability as well as downforce.

It'd look pretty silly doing it though.
Title: Re: Ordered K&N filter today.  Will have 2hp

Brilliant .............. all those Cal-Mini kits that are
too stiff in the springs, well a wing in the front and
a wing in the rear, at highway speeds could soften
up the ride with downforce and not really ad any
weight to speak of, this has to be the solution
Steve has been looking for !!!  at the cost of looking
like a rice racer I'm not sure it's worth the tradeoff

A good air dam setup and some underbody venturi channels ala Ferrari could do it without being so obvious or causing any additional aerodynamic drag too.

Pop em on with some Dzus fasteners so you can take em of when you go wheeling.  Nasty though it is, I have seriously considered a Dzus'd on air dam for day to day driving.  It'd just look kinda funny but with all the space under the vehicles it's really a bad area in terms of aerodynamic efficiency.  A belly pan would help greatly aside from being functional, but that smooth bottom surface can actually create more lift which isn't helping any.

I've got a couple pieces of an aluminum helicopter blade that are about 3 feet long from where I used to work,  Flip it upside down and it makes downforce instead of lift.  If it were mounted in front of the vehicle slightly before the front of the vehicle starts screwing with the airstream it could be made to work (kinda like a formula 1 car) Get a linear actuator to be able to adjust the angle of attack and it could really get fun.   Again though it would look really goofy especially combined with a lift and mudders.

But seriously, how bout it Hagen? do you find the belly pan makes freeway driving any more squirrely?

These were the blades from a kit helicopter that costs about 60k (maybe more now, that was back in 95 when I worked there).

The real ones use composites. (Well stuff like blackhawks, chinooks, and the other bigger helos).  Not positive on stuff like MD 500/OH-6 and the Bell Jet Ranger/OH-58 type stuff, usually just works out to whatever's lightest and can do the job adequately.  The ones on the Chinooks for instance use a titanium spar and then the rest of the airfoil is skinned nomex honeycomb.  Has a nickle erosion cap on the tip (Makes for cool "halo' effects during a dusty night landing).  They still weigh about 350 lbs composite or not.  But when you consider all 6 blades working together can lift a gross weight of about 55,000 lbs between the airframe and the cargo they seem pretty light.  (Nevermind the centrifugal load pulling the blade from the hub spinning at 200 RPM on a 50 foot rotor disk).

Title: Re: Ordered K&N filter today.  Will have
Post by: Z3bra on January 08, 2004, 05:13:13 AM
Yeah and it's actually closer to 225 RPM if I recall correctly.

(wee bit of rounding going on in the post)

The other nice touch is that you never approach a Chinook from the front, the front rotor blade can get as close as 4 feet from the ground which obviously will wreck your day if you happen to occupy the same space as the rotor blade at the same time.

And Natebert, you're overlooking the front and rear wings as additional seating areas since they are practically park benches.

Now to be honest there is some validity to extra ground wires.

That said, if I wanted to put some on I'd probably just get a big piece of 00 copper cable, hook it to the negative battery terminal to make a ground bus to tap into here and there for a lot less money than some of the "JDM ground wire" kits sell for.  The gains are pretty minimal though which is why I haven't bothered with it.

if you install it up high, all those H##ps can get an eyeful

Plus if you get stranded you can build a campfire to stay warm and/or signal for help.

here at Zukiworld.com, we have the best modified

all are a bit different, and some fly higher than others,
but if every readers budget would allow, you can bet
most would be riding on 33s with air lockers F/R 5.83
GV 2.7 V6s, Cal-Mini Bumpers and all the trick stuff
that's available, and we have our site founder/moderator
to thank for his effort and hard work to keep this site up,
running and able the take all this BS we've been slinging

I agree with wildgoody, but I wouldnt get the bumpers. I like the stock bumpers.  I wouldn't mind a tube bushbar on the front though.  Maybe a 6 inch diameter tubing would give my car that "serious offroad machine" look. Plus, it would never dent, even if I'm flying through the air and land nose first.  Maybe if I put little wheels on the front, it wont dig into the ground when I land.

How about the biggest speakers you can find, put them in the pack.

Then when you get stuck, you just crank the base and the sound will help "bounce" the truck out of the stuck.  Like when you have someone stand and bounce on your rear bumper.

Hey, I might have something there  ::)

No scientific explanation to have too much stickers and loose horsepower because of cancellation effect.  If you're not sure or you like your flame, get some things chrome dipped, and do get billet battery cover

That's one thing a Tracker is short on and that's crome.  That's why I've got crome wheels.  Of course if you don't keep them polished it can really drag down the motor.
Title: Re: Ordered K&N filter today.  Will have 2hp
Post by: 1bigtracker on January 10, 2004, 09:12:49 AM
if you want crome then you missed the crome engine kit that was on ebay.  it had a crome valve cover, oil pan, hood hinges and other funky stuff.  i think the intake would be the biggest increse.  but all the oil pan might leak enough oil out to the point where the crank won't touch it for less rotating(spell check) force.  lata stu

I just had a great idea.  For those of us who cant afford/ dont like the look of/ think it's useless but want to try anyway, instead of header wrap, we could use the sticky aluiminum foil the heating / ventilation guys use.  It will keep the underhood temps low and look awsome doing it.  I might wrap my intake in it so the air stays colder.

not bad, I think I picked up 5 horses easy.  Not that it makes day night difference, it's not like a new engine.  I'm yet to install the stickers, maybe that will do the trick

with all the talk of high horsepower tractors, I'm thinking the diffs might not be able to take all the power.   SO, what if some brackets were created to install full size 12bolt gm truck differentials into a tractor.  (I'm even thinking about having a dually tracker)
The wider axles will keep the tires further out to prevent rubbing in turns.   Think how much fun a 6x4 tracker would be, on 6- 33 inch tires

I think that you would need some serious mods to do an axel swap like that
such as window tint or a chrome shift knob...

and you might need a hole sh!t load of decals to pull that one off too.

i read this post all the way to page 7 that was when i realized that although you guys may know alot about 4x4ing you dont know jack about adding hp  >:(

first thing any one who knows does is goes straight to canadian tire and buys himself a rusty walace vibrating seat cover

now i havent dyno tested the thing yet but i do know that i can match speeds with any nascar now so iam guessing that it adds at least 500 hp maybe more

No post to this thread in over 12 hrs ??? Did it finally die ??? So what is the final verdict...K&N actually increase HP or just smooth out throttle response giving the perception of an increase in HP? On that note is increased HP perceived, HP gained ;)

I was picking up some oil at AutoZone last night and noticed that they're now selling "TypeS" stickers. (No I'm not kidding either).

After all, since S succeds R alphabetically, it therefore must be better.

I'm on my way to get some TYPE-Z stickers.  While out, might get some TYPE-ZZZ and a TYPE+++Z just in case.

I dont have the balls to get a Type-RSTUVWXYZ.  I have to learn to drive first.

Lets back up a couple treads.  TYPE-S stickers?  "S" as in the S-word?   Why the hell would anyone advertise that their car is a pos?  What's next, typeF???

They just said Type-S with type in black and the S in red, actually now that I think about it it's almost funny enough I'm considering buying one and putting it on.

This thread has almost been more persistant then those 'sticky' ones the admin posts on the top of the board.   At least it's been viewed more times (which is kinda sad)
