  Too rich for my blood.
Some people like auto. Some  say its one less thing to mess with when wheeling. Don't have to worry about rolling backwards while hill climing or crawling. I woulding mind trying one But I've always had a stick.

Seems pretty damn cheap to me once you think about it. Figure in the cost of the vehicle and all the custom work done to it. I'd go for it if i had the cash!

We'll there are plenty of hard-core guys, including myslef, that have and are going auto.  Obviously you never wheeled a built truck with an auto.  There is no comparison.

It's all about dirver input.  Wildweasel put it best, and I paraphrase,  "Fighter jets are designed to reduce pilot input so the pilot can better concentrate on the task at hand, such as the dog fight."

Eliminating the clutch and need to shift reduces diver input, so you can better concentrate on following the best line.

And when I'm on a 30 degree incline and I can balance the truck (not moving forward or backward) with just the gas pedal.  Hmmmm, what's the crawl ratio at that point?  When your spotter says, come forward about 3-4"s, it's a lot easier with an auto.

There are many good reasons for an auto in an built 4x4.

;D Plus it's alot easier to eat that BigMac without having to shift all the time!! ;)

The only time I hate a stick is when my cell phone is going off and I've just taken off from a light.

And also, it sucks when your trying to hold your wifes hand when your driving and that nice moon lit night with the top down...

But it wouldn't seen right not to have a stick in an off road vehicle.

I grew up driving a VW dune buggy sence I was 12 years old.  I don't know if I'd be able to wheel without a clutch and a shifter???

p.s. I'm 35 1/2 now so that's 23-24 years of wheeling with a stick.

Well Kelly Blue Book says $12,725 for a
2000 Vitara, add the V6, gears, 5.83 R&P
Low TC Set, Suspension lift, Body Lift
Bumpers, Winch, Rock Sliders, and full
skid plate set, Limited Slip Diffs, installed
by Cal-Mini, That's about $5,000 to have
all that extra stuff done

V6 $2000 installed
Gears $600
TC Set $975
Body Lift $140
2" suspension $600
F&R LSDs $900
Bumpers $1100
Winch $300~400
Sliders $300~400 ??
Skid Plates $250

Total Parts $4500-5000
and they are all professionally installed
I'd say this is a deal, if I had the $18,550
I'd buy it, and it's got all the Cal-Mini graphics too

Ohh and the tires are what another $600
That officially makes it a steal

;D

I agree the truck is a steal at that price, I was a hard core manual tranny driver, and I now own an auto in my sidekick, and I would never go back, I love it off road. It might depend on your terrain though, I am on Vancouver island and the ocean and the mountains are ten minutes either direction, not a lot of mud running here.
