Went out wheeling today.
Tried to climb up a trail, but with all the snow and rain we've had as of late there was a sheet of ice on the trail and I couldn't get any traction no matter how hard I tried.
Anyhow to make a long story short. I had to back out down the trail and I smoked a tree with my mirror. ÂÂ
The tree won...  >:( :(

How easy is it to replace the mirror?  how does the base plate come off the door? ( I havent looked at it too hard)

I think you pop off a plastic cover thing on the inside of the door and there should  be a couple screws. I think you just uscrew them and it will come off. You may have to diconnect some wire if you have ower mirrors. Hope this makes sence and is helpful.

I'm running mirrors off a S-10. they fold away when off road. you will have to drill new holes and they don't look all that great but hey i lost 3 mirrors with the stock ones. none after i put the S-10s on. lata stu

Ahhhh the old mirror killer. I hit a tree with mine and it almost bent into the window before it shattered the glass. Dodging glass aint fun :P

The new Vitara's have a folding mirror capability, along with being powered. If yours was originally powered, look into this. Otherwide do look for some type of folding mirror. To add, it looks like the tree missed the rest of the side of the vehicle.

My Vitara does not have folding mirrors. What year did they have folding on.

The real question is did you build a fire with that tree ???
>:( ;)

I can't beleave what mine have held up to. I've heard a lot of poping and cracking noises coming from them but their still holding on.

Really? Maybe it's just the Grand's/XL7's.
With those mirrors on the Vitara, does it look like large ears from the front? Got a new name for your Vitara, and since it's silver, it'll fit even better, .....Dumbo.....

Some punk smashed my drivers side mirror a few years ago, but just the plastic housing, the actual glass was all intact. So I duct taped it up and it stayed like that for almost 2 years before I bought another one from the dealership for a pretty hefty price. >:(

Ah, where would we be without Duct Tape or is it Duck Tape? http://www.ducktape.com/university/history.asp#

Ive busted many a mirror off. I have a stock pile of them now. Every parts car I can find I pull them off. About $30 from a salvage yard. For some trails I just pull them before I break em. Its just 3 phillips screws. Ive been known to stop on a hill and pull em too. :P
