Title: lift shackles?

Are lift shackles like this on ebay a good idea?

I am just looking for getting some lift not a lot on my SJ.

yah i have seen them used supposivly  they work good. Those one look like they are home made but the look pretty stong

4.25" longer will reduce your approach angle and mess up your steering. You could fit castor shims or you could make up some brackets to drop the fixed ends by a corresponding amount. Personally I'd save your money and get a spring lift. You would also need to fit longer shocks or lower the top shock mounting and possibly longer brake lines too.

Shackles are one of the worst ways to lift your vehicle.  Especially if they are really long.  Go with smaller shackles (about 1 or 2 inches longer than stock for a lift of half or 1 inch).  Then save up and get springs or do a SOA.

To add, since the SJ series have very short leafs, it's best to add an expandable shackle setup. Not only does this provide slight lift (<1"), but provides better droop due to the separation of the expandable. If you really want to take advantage of the expandable shackles, swap your rear leafs up front as they are longer, then this will also relocate your axle ~1" forward, add Jeep CJ springs to the back, add the expando's, add longer travel shocks, and you'd be ahead of the game.
