I was wondering how much Suzuki drivers get stranded by their vehicle and what caused it ??? I have been driving Suzukis for 10 years now and have only been stuck on the side of the road twice. Both times it was my fault, and only once I could not limp it home with damages.
The first time I had a cracked upper alt. bracket and decided to let it go untill the weekend. On my way to dinner the cracked bracket broke off and there my DA was sitting on the side of the interstate. It took me 3 hours to get home, letting it cool down/ running it untill it heated up again then stopping again to let it cool down.
The second time was two nights ago. I had a bearing going out in my transmission a few months ago. So I pulled the trans, replaced a worn bearing, put it back in, and the whining was a little better but something was still wrong. So I decided to run it. Within a week it was back to whining and grinding gears when shifting. I decided to run it till she blew, and it finally did. 80 Miles from home 17 degrees, 2 miles to the closest exit, and a dead battery on the cell phone :P
Yea, I know, dumb ass what did you expect? Well, that is the first time I have not been able to drive a Zuk home because of mechanical dammage that was not trail inflicted in 10 years. Have you'll had as good of luck with these as I have?

I got stranded once ten miles south of Crown King on the trail from Lake Pleasant (a popular 4 wheeling area here in Az.) Unfortunately it was a weekday and there was no traffic on the trail, so I ended up walking most of the ten miles to Crown king.
I was new to Samurai's and my t-case sheat failed locking the t-case in neutral. I got it fixed the next day. I always had a spare in my truck after that.

Get this: Right after I got my kick, never wheeld myself before, and I get stuck on my own front lawn!
It was winter, there was a lot of wet snow covered with a thin crust, I had just installed BFG AT'S on an otherwise stock Kick. My house sits lower than street level. I decide to try and drive the Kick uphill to the street on the front lawn. I advance a few feet, then I hear it: crrrrack. I try to back up, to no avail. The tires (not even aired down, btw :P) dug into the snow to the point that my frame was resting on a bed of nicely packed wet snow. A neighbour with an Impreza was kind enough to pull me out. Believe me, I have never been so ashamed in my whole life. ::)
Ah, well. Rookies will be rookies!

My kick has never left me stranded. The last problem I had with it was the timing belt tensioner broke and blew right through the side of the timing belt cover. But it wedged it self in the perfect spot to keep some tension on the belt, and I drove it all the way home about 60 miles.

My kick has never left me stranded either even after taking a hit by a sunfire hehe well yes my direction was all f***ked but it did not let me down :P
Im verry happy and hope it stays this way in the future :)

:-/ Had the fuel line freeze up on the 87 Sammi last winter during a long cold spell - cheap gas I guess. Fortunately dad was in town from FL and had AAA membership. 26 miles of free towing home and a few days later it finally got above freezing long enough to get it going. A couple of cans of dry gas and and new fuel filter and didn't have the problem again. 8)

I came close. Around here it's a big thing to go out wheeling Thanksgiving morning (The Mounds in lower/eastern Michigan).
So I swung by and pick up my dad. We went and wheeled for 3-4 hours. Lots of mud around Thanksgiving.
The last time I started my truck on the trails it didn't start too well (slow turning over). So I left it running.
The time came to go home. About 1/2 way home I could tell it wasn't running right. There was no indication that the charging system wasn't working but I pull up the e-brake one click to shut off the day time running lights. Shut off the raido and blower.
The truck stalled just as I pulled onto my dad's street and was able to cost the rest of the way and park in front of his house. Battery was completly dead.
I then took his truck home, cleaned up and came back for Thanksgiving supper. I charged up the batt and drove it home that night.
The next day I washed the truck and used the high powed sprayer on the altinater and it's worked fine ever since.

Several times. Always from wading through really muddy and deep water. The clutch thrust bearing has jammed through getting dirt under it and the alternator has expired a couple of times. The muck gets around the brushes and when it dries it jams them as they wear the alternator stops working. One time the idle went up to 3000rpm cos of muck in the throttle butterfly. Oh and the Vit floats (at least for a short while - when it sinks the water comes in everywhere!) when the water gets up to the door handles.

Same thing has happened to me, even in the dark you could barely see the warning light

Bummer! It's been pretty cold here in 10-E-C ain't it Zig! Was it in the Sidekick or the X-90?

I've had my truck over 3 years and the only time it left me stranded was when the ecm packed it in. Luckily I had my cell and got a tow back to the shop.

ONce, I had 4K on a new rig and the alternator took a bath when the wiring harness shorted against the motor mount.
Pissed me off big time. Told the dealer they could shove their 3 day only rental car and give me the g***** esteem to drive since it took 12 long days to get an alternator that was made by Mitsu in Mason Ohio. ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ???

Once...a heater hose blew...boy that temp gauge can move quick ;)

So far Ive always been able to drive home.
??? I dont know why. ::)

Gotta find some wood to knock.

My Sidekick has only let me down once when the ECM died about 1 year ago. Luckly it happened in the city so the tow truck fee wasn't to much. 12 YEARS THAT ECM LASTED!!! Oh and last month my alternator finaly blew after 13 YEARS!! That battery light is stupid. >:(
Otherwise my Sidekick has never let me down. I drive it every single day and everywhere I gotta go.

Comeon MIke, you know damn well when you get air like that, you just "glide" home! ;D ;D

My first zuk was a 91 geo sprint turbo. It was a zuk because everything under the hood said suzuki. I bought it new when I was going through my harsh financial dark days. I needed something cheap on gas, I owned it for eleven years, and it never let me down once. Replaced the turbo at 200,000 km, other than that it ran without a hickup.
I've had the tracker for a year and a half now, without any problems. I love the quality of these things, I only hope suzuki continues with this trend. You know even if I was a billionare I would still drive one. 8)

This kind of went the wrong direction but is still COOL 8) I have broken rear axles, rear upper control arm bracket, and a drive shaft on the trail and had to be towed home, but I was wondering about normal maitnance stuff like the 4 times in 4 years my last Ford left me stranded, but keep it going ;)
