Title: attaching your new bumper !!

  When you guy's have made your new custom front bumpers -- how to you attach them ??  Do you use the same bolt holes ??  Weld it on ??  Would anyone have any pictures ??  I went through the search but must of missed this one ..   Thanks  Mac0

I used a combination of the stock holes and new mounting points in the box at the end of the front cross mamber (below the radiator). I dont believe that I have any pics on the internet that shows it, but I'll check.

Since the stock frame mounting points are SO weak, (even the tow hitch mount holes were torn loose,) we re-inforced the frame (boxing it in) and welded the back bumper on.

The front bumper we used the stock points, plus 3 additional points on the front cross member.

I replaced the front Body lift mount with a 7 inch long piece of square steel and attached the bumper there and also the front pan on the bottom of my bumper that goes to the lower control arms. Its tied in tight.

I have the Calimini bumper and after I bolted the adapter bracket to the stock mount position on the frame.  I welded to the frame also.  They also use a bracket that attaches to the round crossover par with "U" bolts.

Soon I'm going to put a diagnal plate between the bumper and the lower control arms.  Like Heathers or Mikes.  It's been on my winter to do lists.

On my Sammy, I used the stock holes, and then added a 90° bracket from the top of the bumper to farther back on the frame.  I also put spacers in the frame so it didn't collapse when I torqued the bolts down.  I used 4 grade 8 bolts as the main connection and 4 grade 8 bolts on the brackets I made.

 Mikerpm4x4 -- you wouldn't have a picture of what you did would you ? I think I got it in my head about some of these but for some reason can't put together your's. It sounds good though ..
