Title: Anyone have photos of an old original Samurai front seat?
Post by: blickbox on June 07, 2019, 02:18:40 PM
I'm in Spain and was trying to change vehicle class of my 1985 SJ410 from "Van" to "Normal car", which meant it had to have 4 seats. My car has a bench in the rear. So far so good. But the inspectors said it couldn't be done, because my front seats don't "fold" and they need to if i'm going to change it to a 4 seater? I don't understand Spanish, so there was a language problem, but even when I showed them that the seat could slide forward, and the back of it tilt forward, she was still talking about something about seat unable to fold and poiting at the front side of the base. I have absolutely no idea what they were trying to say, or what the issue was. But since I think it's a possibility that my seats are not original, I didn't want to fight them.

So what I'm wondering is: How the heck is a front seat in an old Samurai supposed to work!? What does it look like folded?

I don't have a picture but all the passenger seat does is slide forward and the top half tilts forward. It's actually quite difficult to get in the rear of a Samurai for a full size person.

I think possibly the problem was that my driver side frontseat does not have the mechanism to press a pedal from the rear seat which will both tilt and slide the seat forward. On the passenger side I have it. On driver side I have to slide and tilt seperately. Seems like a ridiculus thing to complain about. Especially since I don't have the top on, so it's easier to just jump right out of the car from the back seat than going through the front door.
