i was changing the battery terminals on my 91 track 8v today...so all i did was cut off the old ends and strip the wires then feed the wire into the new terminals and bolt it back to the battery..i took the battery out to try and stuff the bigger one i have =) deep cycle in..but that was a no go
when i set the batt thats in the car now down i set it on the pavement for mabey 2 mins then moved it to the door matt then i put it back in the car
....i cant think of any other information to give
i checked the 4 fuses right by the batt on the pass side of the car and they are fine i then checked all fuses under the dash on the drivers side...is there any other fuses to check?
i need some help asap this is my only car and i think i broke it :(

well if its anything like the samurai then i would suggest looking for a small wire connected to the positive terminal, the fusable link. when i got my truck i had no power whatsoever and i couldnt find anything wrong with it, my friend came by and pointed out the fusable link was fried even though you couldnt tell very well, replaced it with a piece of wire and everything worked.

Is the motor not turning over?
When you turn on your lights do they come on? When you say you checked the fuses, does that mean with a volt meter or did you pull them out and look at them?
First check to see if you missed a wire. Most of the time there's more than one going to the batt. terminals.
If that's ok trace down the batt lead and make sure their making good contact. Maby moving the cables around might have made the ground go bad or loosened the conection at the starter?

theres no juice at all...its like theres no batt in the car when u turn the ignition

u know what :(..i think mabey when i first tossed the batt in i had it backwards :( did i blow up my car? :( :'(
it hassent been a good day today..so im not trusting my judgement at all so even the most inanie things might be wrong i dont know..i checked teh fuses and  turned the dome light on then giggled the wires near the batt but still nothing
im also not sure but i think before when i cleaned the batt i took the pos off first so when i went to recconect it it sparked...i cant get it to spark or make a poping noise at all..like when u giggle the terminal
edit..i checked the fuses by pulling them and looking at them i dont have access to a volt meter..its in my list of things i need
oh the whole reason i did this was because my car wouldnt start at a shell one day so i got out turned the pos terminal 90 degrees got back in and it started...dont know if that will help..my luck i just destroyed the car

Sounds like you smoked the battery and not the Tracker.

well theres not another car to try..i dont want to try it with my moms car since she needs it today
now the batt that i mixed up was a diff one then is in the car right now
if i connect a floresent light to the batt i use tow work under the hood it will light up

A way to check the ground side is to take the jumper wires. Hook it up to the battery and conect the other end to the motor or another part of the frame. This will give you another ground to test the vehicle one.
Next strat tracing down the wiring. You'll have one big wire to the starter and another one either coming off the battery or the starter. See if you can find a hidden fuse or a bad fuseable link (a fuseable link is a piece of wire made to melt in half to protect the rest of the electrical system). Just look for a burnt wire.
Other than that get you a volt meter or 12 volt test light and just keep checking stuff.

so the power wire from the batt goes to the starter first? i think mabey a fuseable link..but would they put the fuseable link inside the sheathing or insulation for the wires?

I have a 96 Tracker 16 valve. I looked at mine and I have two wires coming off the battery. Right in front of the battery is a couple of relays and a larger fuse box. There's a 80 amp fuse that says battery on it.
Did you check that fuse? If that's blown nothing will work.

Also with that fuse I don't think you'll have a fuseable link to worry about.

thats not good cause i dont think that fuse is blown :(..how do i tell if its blown..also do u have AIM or msn or anything =)

theres a yellow 60amp fuse near the battery its the one closest to the batt it looks like its cracked in the middle...but i cant get it out i pulled and nothing i think mabey i have to undo the screws
i hope its that i was almost sick because my car was broken

MAN DO I REMEMBER THE DAY WHEN I USED TO CRINGE AT EVERY LITTLE TASK... IT GETS BETTER WITH TIME.... ;D HOPE ALL GOES WELL HOPE YOU REMEMBERED TO FILL THE GAS TANK ::)

gas tanks full. just for some reason when i goto use the windshiel wipes it smells like gas and the windshiel gets oily?? hmm ;D j.k
i have a story =)...me and my gf went to AZ last febuary well i checked the oil at home and told her she was low so wed have to buy a quart...so she wants to take controll and do it herself so i just ler her..she runs to the store buys 1 guart...gets the right kind and everything so i figure shes got it handeled...mabey 20mins later she comes back in and tells me the level of oil on the dipstick hassent changed..i was like wtf..so she said she added another quart.. im like 2 quarts the thing should be more then full..
so i go out yep sure enough hassent changed??...just to give her some shit im like u did put it in here right..shes kinda looks away and says no there..thats where u pointed...i look over and the windshield washer fluid is brownish black and theres oil all over the outside =) i change and add oil for her now

I knew a guy in High School auto shop that changed the filter and put five quarts of oil down the carburator. ;Dand no it was'nt me.

Are you kidding, I wouldn't get my truck near auto shop, they used to put bondo in the door lock's and other things like that. it ran 13 sec in the quarter I used to do in the v8 vegas ;D the nova that me and a friend had ran 9.8 in the quarter but was not street legal. not bad for high school in the mid 70's (i know i'm old)

I had a Vega GT with 327 & 2pd powerglide, Monza Spyder rear end..sold it almost 20yrs ago now...any time my wife gets on me about doin stuff to the Sunrunner I just tell her that I could build another Vega..the silence is deafening ;)
