anyone got a link to what they said about the jimny ?
-
Not sure what they said but as I understand it they don't sell it here because it's the successor to the Samurai and we all know how much C.R. likes the Samurai.
-
I DO BELEAVE IT IS BECAUSE OF THE SAMMY ABUSE THAT THEY WOULDN'T SELL IT HERE,,,,,,,,BUT IF THEY DID SELL IT HERE THEY WOULD PROBABLY SEE THERE SALE FIGURES GO UPPPPPP............. BUT HEY WHAT DO I KNOW............
-
You guys know what?  I got a feeling that those Jimnys might come to our neck of the woods.  Suzuki is suppose to introduce some more vehicles in the next few years, so we might get lucky.
-
Do they have them in Canada or Mexico? That would be a easy way to get one. ???
-
Here in Canada, we don't have them...yet. Suzuki seems to like Canada quite a bit so maybe we might get lucky. :P
-
Actually I've heard from two sources now that these Jimny's might make here in 2005. But I would take the info with a grain of salt untill I hear an anouncement from Suzuki. If they do come over here I'm really interested in one. I've also got alot if pics of Jimny's lifted, and moded 8)

GEESH MAYBE THATS WHY I LIKE IT...IT DOES HAVE THAT HEEP LIBERTY LOOK TO IT......AND ITS KINDA HARD TO SAY OUT LOUD , BUT I DO LIKE THE BODY STYLE OF THE LIBERTY..... THERE I SAID IT PHEWWW I'M STILL BREATHING......DON'T THROUGH STONES PLEASE ...I ONLY LIKE THE LOOKS, I WOULD NEVER BUY ONE ;D
-
Maybe they will have a GT 2.7ltr. version?? :o
-
I don't mind the Liberty look either, but the design is a serious compromise with the IFS compared to the Cherokee, then again a much larger percentage of people would rather have the better driving on the highway with the IFS than the straight axle or they probably wouldn't make it that way. And for as much as the Liberty costs it's pretty dinky inside. Not really a whole lot bigger than a Grand Vitara for way more money just cause it says Heep on it. For that kind of money I'd much rather get something like an Xterra or a Grand Vitara and have money left to play with.
I don't mind the Jimny, but the concern I have with it is the fender design looks like it would take a big lift to put any decent sized tires on it. Hope they do start selling em here though if only because it has that in your face thing towards Consumer Reports.

This is my gf's Jimny. Its six months old, in this pic it has the standard alloys but off road we now run SJ 8 spokes with 215R15 MTs. Its a great little car. 1.3 litre 16V engine with MPI and distributorless ignition giving 80bhp. Power steering is stock across the range, suspension is coil sprung live axles and the car has LOTS of potential. Hot mod is to swap the tcase for a Sammi item to compensate for larger wheels. These little trucks are just starting to become very popular with the off-road fraternity and there are more and more custom parts becoming available for them. There are more pics and specs on my site:

Here in New Zealand the Jimny's been around since about 1999 . They dont seem to be hugely popular compared to the Vitara.Although they are as capable as the Sammy That shopping trolly design may put some buyers off.For any half serious offroading the fenders need to be taken off as they have lots of hidden cavities that hide mud and later on rust.Id buy one if I wasnt too tall for them , as it is my Escudo only just fit me comfortably, thanks to the high roof.

Cool picture and nice ride Rhinoman!
nz_escudo, Suzukis, in general, are pretty popular down in New Zealand, are they not?
-
I'd certainly be interested in a Jimny if they come to Canada...although the vert version of it looks a bit odd with those little rear windows...I'm sure I could live with that though ;)
-
I don't know? The steering wheel is on the wrong side of the truck?? :P :P :P :P
-
yeah zukis are popular both as housewives shopping trolleys and as serious offroaders. There are alot of sammies and sj's used in the national trial series although heavily modified with toyota alloy v8's , lockers , side brakes, rear wheel steer etc. The biggest trouble i have is that aftermarket gear is very hard to come by no shops think its worth doing mods on a shiny truck. If only there was a calmini or rocky road outlet here in NZ.

I know how you feel. There are no shops remotely near me where I live that deal with the Suzuki line of 4x4s...everything has to ordered from the US which can cost a fortune with the currency exchange and shipping fees. :'(

I dig that jimmy vert. I drive the 20 miles to Canada to test drive one(if in they had 'em).
-
for a while I thought it's supposed to be Jimmy, (like chevy) It is starting to grow on me

Go to Coche, scroll down to Suzuki Jimny, hit Buscar button, then click on any of the 14 pictures. Suzuki XL-7 is also in the race, under Grand Vitara.
