Good morning,
I recently purchased a 2000 Grand Vitara knowing it needed a motor. I’m currently searching for a 2.5 to replace mine. So my question is what years of 2.5 will just drop in without having to mess with the harness or anything else?
I know about the 6 on the vin, but eBay is giving me issues stating a 2002 2.5 will not fit.

Do you have the original engine with all it's accessories/ancilliaries? As far as I know a 2002 2.5 V6 will bolt directly in place of the 2000 2.5 V6, worst case scenario you might have to swap over intake/exhaust and so on.

Yes, original motor is still currently in it. So having to swap a couple things wouldn’t be an issue. I mainly want to figure out which year models will bolt up and wire in with minimal issues.
