Title: Do I really have to move the steering crossbar to get the oil pan out?
Post by: RalphARoni on December 24, 2019, 06:30:00 PM
I worked all day today on my project to replace the gaskets in my oil pan and my front diff. I read the shop manual provided here and also checked some other instructions. I removed the diff and unbolted the pan but I could not maneuver the pan to remove it. It seemed like I would have to remove the crossbar for the steering.I can do that but since that wasn't mentioned figured I'd check first. If I have to I think that removing a large bolt on the passenger side would do it without having to break loose one of the  ball joints. I just need a little room. Advice?

I finally figured it out. The front wheels need to be turned to one side which moves the bar forward just enough to get the pan out.
