I've recently purchased my first car, a 1989 Suzuki Samurai off of facebook and I'm very happy with it so far and I'm loving the experience of driving it, I want to make it more comfortable to daily drive and I was wondering what worth-while upgrades I should make

First - bear in mind that you're driving a thirty year old car, the first question would be what condition is it in - and that is assuming it is near stock and not modified - a thorough once over of the suspension to determine what is worn and needs replacing would be in order, also determine what type of tires are fitted (LT - light truck tires are not really necessary and are heavier construction than required and will affect ride comfort) and adjust the pressures accordingly.
Second - bear in mind that you're driving a leaf sprung light truck - it's going to ride like a truck, not like a car - so don't expect to be riding in comfort, it is just not going to happen.
Last - if you're replacing springs & shocks (if what you have is the original, they will be well past their prime) consider Old Man Emu from ARB (available from several retailers, including low range off road), I think that will give you the best ride you can hope to get - and if ride comfort is your focus, you want the least possible lift.
