Title: Front strut question for 99 grand vitara
Post by: Ztay grand vitara on March 07, 2020, 02:12:30 PM
Hello I’m new here this is actually my first post so I hope it is in the right place. I have a 99 grand vitara with a 2.5 inch suspension lift and a 2 inch body lift. I just blew out one of my front struts so my question is before I go and order new ones is. Would the front struts front a 2006 grand vitara with the coils inter grated onto the strut bolt up to my frame and spindle and I could get rid of my coils and pretty much have a coil over setup on the front for pretty cheap?

I doubt it - I haven't looked at the dimensions to see if you could bolt it up, but, my assessment of the strut towers on a 99 is they lack the strength to support the weight of the vehicle - on a 99, because the spring sits between the control arm & the frame, the strut tower doesn't support the weight, on a 2006, the spring is around the strut so the strut tower supports the weight.
