So I’m under the front end and noticed that the inner cv joint has no grease boot to transfer case on the passenger side and actually a bit more wobbly/play than I would think is normal. But is it in fact normal to see some play? It is not leaking at all and seems fine when driving. There is no flange like on driver side. Is there a seal within the transfer case? Curious

My bad, there is a boot after all but I’m curious about where the inner hub of axle meets the transfer case. Just doesn’t even look like there’s a seal there and wobbly play

Although it’s not leaking is 1/8-1/4 inch of play excessive?

Do you plan on telling us what vehicle you have?
On my Suzukis there are no CVs, boots or axles near the transfer case, so I guess you must have one of those FWD/AWD types. ;)

Some play may be alright. Assuming a Track/Kick? There is a seal at the end of the differential housing where the axle shaft goes into it. Any signs of leakage at all? You may want to pull the fill plug and check for the fluid level. It may not be leaking because it is empty. If it has fluid, and no leak, roll with it!
The axle is splined and fits into splines inside the differential. There is a C clip at the end of the splined shaft that holds it in place.

Be careful with your terminology - a 'C clip" is not same as a circlip, especially when dealing with axles - try googling "C clip axle" and see what you find.
I've not yet seen a Suzuki that used C clip axles.

Correct Fordem. I actually thought about that later on after typing that...could not remember if I had typed C-clip or circlip. Yes, very different parts for very different styles of differential. Originating as a hardcore GM guy, very well acquainted with the true C-clip.
