Title: Engine Codes
Post by: GrapplingDMC on December 17, 2020, 02:46:13 PM
I bought a 2009 XL-7 that had a bad motor from the timing chain. I had a 2007 motor in & had the updated timing chain & tensioners and all that replaced at the same time. I am getting 4 current codes. P0420, P0009, P0018 & P0019. The car starts hard when I get fuel so most likely the purge valve which i am guessing will take care of the P0420 code. The car seems to run great besides that. Has anyone else had similar issues with the other 3 codes?

Ok update. I deleted the codes & the light came right back on. I ran it for a couple days & the codes now are the P0009 & P0018. Any thoughts?

Update number 2: I changed the crankshaft sensor (which was buried & took 4 hours on a lift). Deleted the code & drove about 30 miles home with no code.
Woke up the next day started the rig & code came on before I was out of the driveway. I am wondering if maybe the cam sensors can throw that code. Thoughts?
