Title: I'm finally back at Zuki World

 :) Finally bought another Sammy. 1987 with a 1997 Geo tracker 16 valve engine in it. I bought this as a basket case when the previous owner tried to cross the Little Colorado River and hydrylicked the motor. Long story short, all work on motor done and is now running and driving.

The only problem I'm having is when the engine is cold it doesn't want to start. I give it a whiff of starting fluid and it will start. Any suggestions? Timing at 5 degrees before TDC.

Is it still fuel injected?  Does it have the OBD port & check engine light fitted?  My first suspicion would be the ECT - engine coolant temperature - sensor
