i finally got my 83 sj410 saftied and plated. fun to drive . the previous owner installed a tachometer and ive noticed that the vehicle runs at high rpms fopr the speed . im assuming this is due to the lower gear ratio and the 4 speed transmision. when im doing 80km/h its running right around 4000 rpm. its this typical? the speedometer says it will do 120km/h but i dont want to push it. what would a safe max speed be to run the engine at. Im mainly driving backroads but was wondering if i could get 90 km/h out of it or if its asking for too much? i ordered a new valve cover gasket and bolt gaskets as im leaking quite a bit of oil from the cover where previous owner has used rtv silicone .

I can't comment on what rpms would be normal, but Suzuki engines generally thrive on high rpms, and if this is your first "exposure" to a Suzuki, it's very common to first time owners to ask about what they perceive as the higher than normal rpm - for the 1.0 liter engines, the redline would be around 6000 or 6500, but I would expect it to be somewhat "out of breath" at around 5500 rpm.
