Looking to purchase a scanner tool/code reader and wondering what ones you guys have had success with and would recommend. There are a lot of option out there and I figured I would ask what other Suzuki people are using.

It might help to start by telling us what you're driving or trying to scan, is it a more recent OBDII compliant vehicle or an older OBDI? I use an older Launch X431 product called EasyDiag.

Sure. My current daily is a 96 X90 and the project I am working on is a 94 tracker that is getting a 04 Aerio 2.3 swap. The other 4 rigs are all pre 95 so those don't have scanner ports. I am reading that you need a Suzuki scanner in order to set the computer to spark setting in order to time the 2.3. Not sure if that is true or if other scanners will work. So I guess that probably should have been more of my question.

Ever looked under the dash of those "pre 95"? I'm pretty certain there's a J1962 port under there (assuming they are fuel injected), and I'm pretty certain my Launch EasyDiag will "talk" to them via that port, it's worked on every Suzuki I've tried it with, including the OBDI models - I can't comment on that 2.3, I have no documentation for it. but it sounds about right for the J20 & H25 engines of that era.
