I'm wondering if anyone has gotten there Alt. rewound for an increase in output instead of going through putting on a larger Chevy or something.
Just a thought -- I think I remember something like this when I played a bit with a Toyota ..

ACE Alternator can build one for the GV, from the stock 80amps to 175 amps, and it's plug and play. Not too shabby.
You should see if a GV alt will fit your application.

How do you know how many amps your alternator is outputting?
-
It's only like 55 amps. Their stamped on the side with the out put.
Easy way, look up the spects or call you local auto parts store and see what they have on file.
Do you have any more info on ACE Alternator?

175 amps from a stock alternator??? I'll get my 55amp rebuilt, see how much I can get out of that!!!! Even if it's only 130, I'm laughing

I had my stock one from my 87 samurai done by a shop by me and they got it up to 95 amps and it cost about the same as a new stock unit would have, but it is worth every cent I spent on it since I have the winch on my sammy which gets used a lot.

See that's the thing, I think I have 55 coming out of mine, not sure, I'll have to check in the morning. I think I need extra juice.
