Title: gear ratio...
Post by: cookiemuddster on December 31, 2003, 09:01:32 AM
i was wondering if anyone knows how i can get or which gears to look for for my sj410.  I am hoping that lowering the gears will add some bottom end power for me too...Any ideas?

I THINK THAT THIS REFERS FOR THE SIDE KICK TRACK  NOT WHAT HE WAS LOOKING FOR  :-/

I think i am more looking for what i will need for gears and how hard are they to find...Do you think that i will acheive what i am looking for? (more power out of small engine<1000cc>)  If not, what will?

SJ diffs don't fit the 410 axles you would need to source some LJ80 diffs, these drop straight in with the third member and reduce the overall gearing a fair bit. I forget how much exactly, I'll try and remember to look it up later.

Edit:
The FSM gives the stock 410 diff ratio as 4.111:1
The LJ80 is quoted on the web as 4.556:1
