Title: Why must I torture myself! :(
Post by: 99Trackerconv on December 17, 2003, 02:17:18 AM
I've been looking for a Wrecked/rebuildable 5spd XL-7 for a while now and all I have found is Autos. Now that my wife is getting laidoff probably till March, I find the wreck of my dreams :(

A '02 Xl-7 5spd 4x4 with 23K miles, full interior and all they want is $4000.  :o And I can't buy it! >:(  WHY ME!

A 5spd XL is hard to find but a 5spd 4x4 is really rare especially with the 3rd row seats.

I'm looking at the same thing. Since it's located in upper state NY, I've sort of stopped on it. I'm pretty sure the interior engine bay framing will need replacement.

I had invisioned to tubing the front fenders, adding exo-skeleton, then cutting off the back end where the panels are gone. Make this a flatbed of sorts, tieing into the exo. Swapping in some kind of straight axles, adding length to the wb, and having a real mean looking X.

I'm still debating. However, a fellow Zuker has some family problems with daughter having a heart-attack, so I've been given the opportunity from the wife to purchase his heavily-mod'd Sami. That way, money won't go into the X.

I'm sorry to her about your friends daughter, Jagular

I personally am looking for the XL-7 for a engine/trans/axle swap into my 99 2dr Tracker and so I could also get some power windows, locks, new wheels, and interior too (I could finally get rid of the multicolor seats for some grey ones and the rear could be a splitback instead of solid). So $4000 is a good price to me because it would be a parts car, but I still wish I had the money!

If you take a look today, the But-It-Now price has been lowered. To add, take a look at the bidders. I'm the only one with feedback. All others have none!!!

Current hi-bidder signed on 11/22/03!  To add, this one bidder has placed bids on most of the sellers items on Ebay. What does this mean? Maybe nothing, but could mean that the seller is raising price on all his items with his other 'name'.

Sellers website is http://www.qualityautobodyrepair.com/.

I noticed about the bidders having 0 feedback.

I only have a 1 though and I've been a member since Oct 3rd '01 :o

I've bought 3 things off ebay and only one person gave me feedback. :( Oh well!

I really want to get this car but need to find a way to pay for it NOT using a credit card though. ;D >:(

If you really want a wrecked XL-7 for it's hardware, I'd check with your insurance company. Find out what they do with their 'totalled' vehicles. Some major insurance comanies place them up for auction under a contract with an auctioneer. Beware, though, some auctions are dealer only. So if you happen to know an auto broker, he'd be able to get one for you.
Besides, it's winter now, the midwest recently had snow, the east already several inches, so it's very possible there is another.

 ;D No with me I'm either a day late or a dollar short. When I have a pocket full of loot I can't find a deal, when I'm broke I find all the deals.   George;

MEAN VERY VERY VERY MEAN!!!! >:( ::) ;D :'(
I was thinking about putting a turbo on the 2.0 but then I thought "I know nothing about turbos! And I know that you have to tune them, and to tune them right you need a dyno(nobody around here knows of one). So I went with the idea of staying "Suzuki stock" and going with the 2.7

I don't tow with it but you can tow  up to 3,000 lbs with it so a kick shouldn't be a problem.  As for the gas I get around 20+ mpg on the  interstates.

I've been in contact with the body shop on that XL-7. Seems they have sold it without me providing a private bid. They accepted a $3100 offer. Seems someone is flying out to drive it back home.

I was hoping to get it by putting a loan on it (yah, I have a decent job, but I'm already paying for my XL7).  Tube the front, cut off the back end, and tube it for a full exoskeleton. Perfect 4 doors, power everything, v6, 5-sp, 4wd, rear pass ac, etc. would have made an interesting wheeler for sure. Now back to 02 XL7 I have, adding coil spacers, fabbing strut drop cones, etc. for mild wheeling.

Yeah I've emailed them too. But never acted on it cause of no cash and I didn't want to use my Credit Card. And I prbably couldn't get a loan because I have too many out right now.
