Title: my truck broken??? Its confusing me

I thought it needed high test gas.  It is still doing the same thing as before.  Under moderate throttle, sounds like a diesel, but if I ease off, it sounds good the whole rpm range. ????.  Passed the etest with flying colors, new bosh platinum plugs. plenty of power.

Check the timing, are the plugs too hot ??

recommended plugs.   I have not checked timing yet, thought running 92 octane would have fixed that

I'll check it tomorrow.  What would piston slap sound like?  that would change under power, right?

Sort of a diesel sound, but usually only
when cold.

I really notice it when cold.  not so much when warm, but still there.  When I changed to high test gas, I thought I had it licked, but I may have had two different problems.

174 km, about 108k miles

ya it could be slap, my pistons do it, and I
have 260K miles on the pistons/engine
it was rebuilt at 245K miles, I reused the pistons.

I got to go to sleep, I've only had 2 1/2 Hrs sleep
in 39 hours so I'm tired, had to work at 2 PM Xmas eve
got home 8AM this morn and got to sleep 9 to 11:30

my yamaha virago 1000 did have that on one of the two cylinders, I knew what it was.  This sounds like it's all of them on every stroke.
