How long was the pause? 1 flash 2 flash pause and then it repeats. I got the book inhand rite now and it doesn't mention a 1st flash to ignore.  The book I have is a Haynes.

I'm a GM guy also.  When your getting codes out by flashing the check eng. light the first code will be 12.  12 is the code for no tack signal (the engine is not running so there will be no tack signal).

On GM modles it will flash each code 3 times.  Then after the last code it starts all over again.  If all you get out is the number 12 then there are no other codes.
