Well anybody try it? I have a dana 30 narrow track cj7 front axle that I'm refurbing and considering throwing it in the front of my sami. 3.73 gears are available so I can match the rear plus I'll be illiminating the birfields and get better stopping power at the same time. So what do you think?

There's a guy in Brazil (Billj,he posts on the Pirate BBS)
who runs D30's front and rear with 35" tires. He wheels
mostly in heavy mud and the axles held up pretty well
for him.I think the Dana 30 is a definite improvement
over a Samurai axle although it's quite a bit heavier.
There's excellent aftermarket support for it in the way
of lockers, posis, axleshafts and general repair parts. You
can also do some junk yard scrounging to find some
flat top knuckles and then build a high steer.
