??? istarted to have trouble with 88 sammy acting like the carb went sour. I had the carb rebuilt still same thing. To make matters worse its only hitting on the rear two yet pull the plug wires lots of spark ??? disconnect one of the leads to the carb and it changes to the front. ran a compression test 80 85 on all four. where can look to solve my problem?

Not sure how you measured compression but those numbers are extremely low. Did you have the throttle all the way open? The Factory Service Manual has specs like 190 psi with a 170 psi service point. I've had several motors that run fine at around 130-140 psi. That could be a problem.

Could be a fuel pump issue. They are known to go bad. I had to replace my fuel pump last year. Also, look for cracked/loose vacuum lines

my mistake 180 185 ive checked for vacume leaks even replaced intake gasket may have to try fuel pump doesnt seem to be bad but im to the point ill try anything. thanks dan

A lot of times when the fuel pump goes, it leaks oil out of the weep hole in the pump. That's a telltale sign.

Does it have a distributor? I havent seen a samurai motor in so long, I forgot..........

Did you get it fixed yet ?
I changed my fuel pump today and it wasnt too hard , My samurai wasnt idleing correctly and I have tried everything vacuum lines , fuel pump , seafoam , but today when I was changine my fuel pump a little gas got onto the intake manifold and bubbled like it had a pin hole in it .. leaky manifold? leaky carb I dont know b ut its still isnt running right even though I did finally manage an Idle ... good luck and please let us know what it was ..
