I was on Heathers web site and i was reading about her putting 2" lift TJ in the rear of her tracker.  How is this done?  do you have to cut the coils?  do you use the coils from the front or rear?  how much lift does this produce on a tracker?  Are they too stiff/soft?  Overall proformance?  would some from Rancho, Superlift or old man emu work better?  And do you think i could get better flex if i used rear TJ double eye shocks insted of stock tracker pin eye shocks? thanks a bunch and a big thanks to Heather for putting this on her site.  check it out http://www.whitepineclub.com/members/kd7hcg/sidekick.html  lata stu

I think they actually were TJ FRONT coils.  The rear coils are too large in overall diamater, but not big enough in wire diameter.  I need to tell her to update the webpage with the correct ones.
We didn't cut the coils at all.  We had the bottom coil closed off by about .5 an inch.  (pinched together a bit in a vice, be carefull doing this or you'll create a missle.)  This made the coil fit the bottom cup better.
I can't quite say how much lift it actually provides from a stock tracker.  We've made so many different modifications to make this nearly impossible. ÂÂ
We do run that HUGE and HEAVY rear bumper, and it's a  4-door and it provided enough lift with a 3 inch body lift for 33s.  I just measured the fender opening and its 39 inches from the ground.  So maybe you can take in consideration all of those and get an estimate. ÂÂ
They have been better then the 2 inch Calmini springs.  By better I mean that they seem to ride softer and firmer at the same time.  They seem to have a better spring rate for what we run then the 2 inch Calmini inches, with 1.75 inch spring spacers. ÂÂ
We have recently upgraded from stock Jeep TJ front springs to 2 inch TJ lift springs from BDS.  We used these to remove the spring spacers that we had been running.
So 2 inch BDS lift TJ front coils, 33 inch tires, 3 inch body lift, heavy rear bumper, 4 door tracker and it's 39 inches from the ground at the top of the fender opening.

So how is the ride ?? I would think the front
TJ springs would be too stiff for the rear of
a Track/Kick.
I want to remove the spring spacers from my

This was EXACTLY why we did it!  Get rid of the spring spacers.
I'd say the ride is great.  The front coils seem stiffer then the rear.  But like I said above, we also have a lot of extra weight on the truck.

So what rear shocks did you use for the TJ 2" lifted springs???
I just put on a set of Crown Victoria Shocks, I like them so far.

Don't exactly remember the Rancho part number (?5019?), they were not a 'Sidekick' part. We took the shocks that came with the 2 inch Calmin kit and measured their compressed length and then their extended length and added ~2.5 inches to the compressed length and it ended up being like 3.5 inches longer then their extended length.
We of course had to extend the brake line, and vent tube, and loosen up the e-brake cable clips, and ABS sensor wire to keep things from being damaged at full extension.
I'll have do crawl around my garage to find the boxes or crawl under the truck to see exactly what part number we got. We still used the stock mounts on the top and use the same style of bottom mounts, but at a different location to accomodate the extended wheel base.

OK Thanks you two, I have 3" spacers on top
of stock SideKick Springs, how much longer
are the TJ 2" springs over the stock Kick ones ???
If I remember right, it would take a 16" long
spring to replece the spring/spacer setup I
have on right now, do you have the length of
the new spring ??? this would tell me if the
Crown Vic shocks are a match for these springs.

did you have to cut or mod anything or did you just take out the calmini springs and spacer and swap in the TJ coils? what did the TJ coils cost if ya dont mind me askin?
oh one o ther thing will the TJ coils work with Mikes mod to get more travel and straighten out the drive shaft angle?

I will measure out the springs later today after I wake up..... it's late and I just got home from work.
The springs cost me about 50 bucks for the pair. They are BDS and I got them from a local 4x4 shop.

Here's some specs for you all! The springs are measured at their longest point:
Stock 4 Door Rear Springs are ~11"
The Calmini rear springs that come with the 2" lift are ~13 1/4"
OEM Front Jeep TJ Springs are ~15 1/2"
BDS 2" Front Lifted Jeep TJ Springs are ~ 17 1/2"
If you use Jeep TJ Springs, the FRONT ones are what you use on the BACK of our Track/Kicks.

what did you do to the front springs?
The front springs are some used springs that I found in a scrap pile in the back of my local spring shop. They were about an inch longer and tighter wound. I have NO idea what they came out of, all I know is they worked.
