>:(my samurai is a put put machine on the highway but pretty good off road. I have stock engine and drivetrain. After getting my calmini 5inch super lift kit I feel the need to get more torque or power or whatever out of it so my question is this:
whats better, lockers front and rear with geared transfer case or carb/header/supercharger or whatever you have done?
DISCUSS PEOPLE!!!!

don't mess with the stock 1300, go to the 1600 8 valve if you want easy or 1600 16 valve a little harder but well worth the trouble and extra money, next good clutch, exhaust, lockers, if you still have money gears!

When I first got my samurai, I didnt know much about the engine swaps or anything. And I had a Chevy 229 just sitting there. So, I put the 229 in the samurai. I got plenty of torque...... hehe........

Gearing for my samurai improve in town and off road performance , on the hiway though Im struggling to get to 60 MPH I know the bigger tires has something to do with that and plus my speedo is prob wrong anyway .. I dont think sammis were ment to drive 70 MPHs anyway , even stock your really hitting high RPMs to do it ..

60-70MPH IN A LIFTED SAMMY WITH BIG A$$ TIRES IS PROBABLY A BIT HAIRY ANY HOW ;D

HP is good, torque is better, torque pulls you up
hills, and works better offroad, HP gets the speed
up after the low RPMs pick up and you get on the
highway.
SuperChargers, and TurboChargers help to increase
both torque and HP by force feeding the engine more
fuel and air, basicly makes a small engine act like a
bigger one.
Gears will increase your available torque without changing
the engine, but you will loose high speed, over 60 MPH
to too many RPM, tho these little engines are quite happy
at 4,000 to 4,500 revs.

:oi must say that i run uphill at pismo at 7500-8000 rpm and all i have 2 say is redline all the way baby you cant blow a 1.3L sammi! :o

I can run my Tracker (1.6L 16V. with 154,000 miles on 32 MTR's) 70 - 75 mph no problem in 4th gear.  I have 5.84 R&P and run the engine betwee 4000 - 4500 rpms.
Havent had any problems yet.  ;D
Oh yea, with the gears and tires the speedo's right dead on!!!

i don't know if their is a rev limiter on my 93 8V but it never seems to go over 6500 RPMs. i thought that was high but i guess 7500 to 8000 is high now. time for nitrous i guess. lol lata stu
