Yesterday, my brother and I had to go to the Home Depot to buy a new stand up shower to install in our house.  I swear, that little Sidekick I've had for 10 years now has NEVER let me down.  There was no way the huge box was going to fit in my brothers Cavalier so I took off my spare tire, threw into my brother's trunk, shut my tailgate, grabbed the box, lifted one end into the back and slid it in all the way to the front seats and that was it.  About half was sticking up in the air, but the hard top window came down just enough to give it a downward slop, tied with a string, and off we went.
I don't know if the rest of you feel this way about your vehicles...but I swear, I LOVE my Sidekick...it's almost like a person to me.  I caress it, I touch it, I tell I love it...am I nuts?
I've spent SOOO much time in my ride that I am emotionally tied to it.  A few years ago, when I used to park outside on my street, some worthless punk smashed my drivers side mirror.  The glass was not broken, but the housing was messed up.  I swear I sat at my kitchen table for hours depressed beyond belief and finally got up to duct tape the wounds.
It's taken me to work, my entire working life thus far, it's taking me on road trips, to the beach, to other towns and cities and it's always been good to me.
I don't think I will be able to part with it ever...and if I did, I would imagine that I would never be the same for the rest of my life.

I know axactly how you feel. I drive mine everywhere. We have driven it to florida twice even though I have a 91 GMC conversion van and an 01 Saturn. I drive the Tracker if its at all possible. Nothing even comes close. ;)

Dude, I hear ya, my friends make fun of me too, but if I had tons of money, I swear, I'd have nothing but Suzukis of all models through out the years around my house.
There are a couple of families in Toronto that are ALL Suzuki. I think it's refreshing, and one day when I start a family of my own, it will be the same.

Ya I love my Trackick to bits.
I've only had it since last January, but every time I get in and drive it around town, it puts a smile on my face. (and its bone stock too :o)
I love my trackick so much that I'm giving it a face lift next week with a 6" Calmini lift, full Calmini exhaust package, and some 31" BFG mudders ;D
Thanks Calmini!

Yeah, I fall under that catagory too, although, I also have to include my wife. ::) So far since August when we bought it we've put about 6,000 miles on our Tracker, and now here's the sad part, for my wifes 94 Escort ( which USED to be the main family vehicle) has only gone about 500 miles in that same amount of time. Not only do I take it everywhere, but when I'm home from work (I work nights 8)) SHE takes the kids EVERYWHERE in it. We both love it. I will admit that there are times that I miss my Trooper, for that certain beater appeal it had ( the Tracker is just too nice to ruin). Also, about losing vehicles, I still think about my first car it was a 1970 Olds 98 four door hardtop. It was bought by my Dad 6 months before I was born, and was in the family it's whole life. It came off the road, sat a few years, and then my Dad said it was time to go, so off to the junkyard it went. A few days later my Dad and I both rethought our decision and decided to buy it back, but it was too late, it was sitting in a pile of cars with a Dodge Dart on the roof. To this day it makes me hurt, to see OUR family car like that, I was able to salvage a few emblems off of it which I still have all these years later. Oh well, enough of me rambling on here, talk to you later, Dave oh and ps, I can see us having our Tracker for a LONG period of time!!!

Seems most owners of these rigs really do like them. I can vouch for that.
The vitara is one of the most underated SUV on the market today. Yup, its abit noisy and the ride is not buick class but it will go anywhere, turn on a dime and give nine cents worth of change, and gets good mileage to boot.
What more can you ask for?
Well........if you're mike hagen, perhaps a pilots license! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I bought my SideKick from Royal Suzuki in San Bernardino,
in 89' it had 203 miles on it from driving it on test drives and
transporting from the dock. It has served me well, and
taken me on many an adventure, and has been more
faithfull than a dog, truley mans best friend, and now
with the Red Door (thanks to my youngest son bumping
it into revearse) the Lt. Green hood and fender support
(my bad) and all the mods, lifted and hard to steer from
no power steering (gonna fix that ;) ) my wife still loves
to drive it, and she has her own car too, with air power steer
easy ride and all, the Ol kick has some sort of appeal that
is hard to beat, I don't think I'll ever replace it, it will just
end up more and more modified, until it's a total tube frame.

You are going to love that exhaust...I just put the full meal deal on mine and its great!! Go for a hi-flo filter as well. I just got back from getting a tune up and the mechanic was drooling over the header...said it was one of the prettiest headers he's seen...even compared to his Cobra kit car!
Oh yeah...I think these Trackicksuunrunnervitaras are great too...it always puts a smile on my face :)

Sweet! ÂÂ
I was just gonna get the header from Calmini then do "Flow Master" for the rest of the exhaust set up, but I decided to go ALL Calmini cuz I like their product and service.
I ordered a K&N filter for my trackick a few days ago, it should be in  on tuesday  ;D
P.S. Where you at in Edmonton, bud? I lived there for 15 years (on Vancouver Island now)

That's a pretty touching story man. :'( It's amazing how attached some people become to an automobile.
Ah man...GM used to make the best cars in the world... :-/

Yeah, they sure did, My Mom and Dad had a few of them, a '64 Pontiac Catalina, a'66 Bonneville, a '68 Olds Cutlass, and then the '70. It was a good car, built solid, weighed over 5500 pounds I believe. I guess with the passing of time, and the passing of family members, well, you know, you kind of get to thinking. I have a feeling that this Tracker is going to be one of those special family vehicles. Thanks, Dave

I used to live in Courtenay, then in Victoria...my folks live in Port Albernie (places on Vancouver Island in BC for those who are wondering)...anywho I live on the east end of town, 108 Ave & 30th St, over looking Rundle Park and the river. The best part is I'm only 30 minutes from the track where I get to play with my ZX-7R race bike...that's a wholy different kind of off-road vehicle ;)

I love all these enthusiastic stories about people's Suzukis, its really inspiring. ;D
I'm glad I found this place because its making it easier for me to decide to buy a Sidekick or a Vitara (used, of course, I can't afford a new car).

Does your Kick get jealous ???
Everyone I know thinks I'm nuts :P I like mine so much that I am pulling all of the goodies off of a 97 model with half the miles, to fix up Godzuki ;D
I have had a guy follow me 12 mile out of Tellico to try to buy it from me, and I did not even see what he would offer. I just told him he could buy one and build it for half the price it would take to buy mine ;)
Then there is the work thing, nothing better than pulling up to next to a bunch of Lincons and Yucons at a field review in the ol-Kick, and the other Engineers that have not met met me think I'm crazy :P
Obsession, OH YEA ::)

Ok... time to post. :) I love my Kick to death. After delivering pizza and being in her so much, it's like we are intertwined. I like going everywhere in her, we drove her to the coast, and we drove her to moab. Just because. We could have taken the Durango and been a lot more comfortable, but sometimes it's fun to drive the Kick for the adventure of it.
Yes, she does get Jealous. I have also noticed that she likes the Dave Matthews Band. I think I am crazy, but it seems to be when she's at her best. A recent story:
I had been playing a DMB CD for about 15 minutes, she was running great, and then I turned off the CD and pulled into one of those wash yourself car wash bays. I got out, left her running, but without any music. I washed her all over, engine bay and everything, and when I was done, I could hear the engine sputtering. Oh crap I thought, I got water in the distro cap.
I couldn't even pull out of the bay cause I couldn't get enough power. I had to push her out. Then, even after wiping down the distro and rotor, and all the spark plug wires, she ran a little better, enough to get me down the road but still sputtering, and I couldn't go any faster then like 25mph. (Still I don't have the CD on...) I drove down the road trying to make whatever was causing the problem evaporate. No doing. After about an hour or so, I started playing the CD, LOUD. I was kind of upset cause we were supposed to be going to Moab *tommorrow* and we couldn't drive her when she was acting like this. After about 5 minutes, I came to a stop. She was purring like a kitten. And continued to.
Then I realized all she wanted was to hear DMB. And I had turned IT off, but left her RUNNING when I was in the car wash bay. She had nothing to listen to but the water spraying down. So she was upset.
Yeah, I know. I am crazy, but sometimes.... that Stephen King movie Christine seems all too real.....
I have also taken her with me when I have visited the Suzuki dealer and inquired about a GV or something. Or any other dealer for that matter. And each time I get back in my truck I get something in my eye with *authoritah*. And I have to sit there and get it out before I can drive. It's like she smacks me. "What are you thinking!?... WHACK".
You might also notice I call it a "her". This is something that I just spontaneously started doing. I have no control over it.  :-[
LOL
;D

Heather,
I took mine to a dealer (MANY years ago) to see about trading it in on a new ride. I almost had the price where I wanted it, so the sales manager took it for a test drive to see about trade in value. My kick spit and sputtered across the parking lot. So bad that he turned around, parked it, and told me he would not trade for it with it runnung like that. I in turn asked him "running like what"? It had never done that to me :-/ So I dumped the new ride deal, jumped in my kick and to my suprise it was missing real bad. It cleared up about a 1/4 mile from the dealership. It had never done that before nor has it done it sence. But then again, I have never considered traiding it sence then :-/ ??? :-/ 8)

Does your Kick get jealous ???
No it doesn't. :) My girlfriend at first though I spent to much time cleaning out my ride and washing it every week, but she really likes it now. She's always asking about driving it for a little. My girlfriend has never been a car person until she met me and now is a Suzuki lover.
-
Even after a pooched alternator and a cracked AC condensor, I can safely say mine has been much more reliable than the Dak I used to be a slave to. :-/
My rig still gets compliments, even from the same people I work with who have seen it now for nearly 2 years. :D
It starts, runs, and delivers. It gets 23-26 in town, perhaps a tad more on the highway. The controls remind me of early 80's jap cars. The cruise releases with a thud as the cable from the transducer goes to the accelerator pedal and not the throttle body! neat huh? First couple of times it did that I nearly filled my hanes. Then I saw how it was wired up and whew! ;D
I like my rig. Its rough, noisy, and totally lacking in low RPM pulling power. Perhaps I need to borrow a page from hagen and go redline.........all the time! :P

HMMMMM........ & I THOUGHT IT WAS ALL IN MY HEAD ;D I'VE HAD CARS THAT HAVE HAD NO PROBLEMS WITH, THEN I START THINKING OF TRADING OR SELLING & SHAZAMMMM PROBLEMS ARISE OUT OF THIN AIR....... DECIDE TO KEEP IT A WHILE LONGER PROBLEM GOES AWAY.... ::) I NEVER SPEAK OF GETTING RID OF MY CARS WHILE I'M STILL DRIVING THEM ANYMORE ;D ;D WHO SAYS A CAR WAS JUST A HUNK OF METAL :o MATTY D. 8)

Now you've done it, your going to have to change your oil to
Mobil 1 or Syntec, use a Napa or Wix filter, give your trucklet
a tank of Premium Gas, and change all the plugs to Platinums.
Maybe then, just maybe all the harsh words will be forgiven.
:)

All I can say is Zuke rules!!!!!!
I hope they can get their marketing in gear and get more of these great trucklets on the highways and byways of the USA! ;D ;D ;D
