Title: EFI conversion...what pump works?
Post by: mtntoy on November 19, 2003, 04:08:25 AM
What pump can I use for my EFI install?  It's a 90 1.3 and I'm putting it on my 88.5 1.3.  I was given a NAPA part number, but it says it's only 6 psi, isn't that too low?

Thanks for any info.

I don't pretend to be an expert on this, but I did some searching and found this:

http://www.carsoft.ru/avtorepair/suzuki.pdf

On page 8 it lists the fuel pressure on a samurai to be in excess of 30lbs, so I think you are right that 6 psi is insufficient.

I would imagine that if you got a fuel pump off a later model samurai that was fuel injected it would be the proper psi rating.....

Good Luck!
Joe

The newer Sammies have their pump in the tank.  I have the EFI pump, but not the tank.  I think buying a new pump would be easier than cutting a hole in the tank.

What about picking up a newer tank and pump at a junkyard?  That might solve some problems....

Good Luck!

try Trail Tough I think they have one for 79.00 or so there out of a 86 to 88 ford f-150 pick up, it is the secondary pump that mounts on the frame, that is what I have in mine and make sure you do not tighten the clamp too tight or it will be noisy, and run the gound all the way back to the battery or you will be buying alot of them!
