Hey am i the only one who has a wierd buzzing noise in there tanny not just in 5th gear but all the gears? And has any one else broke the linkage? I thought it would be better on my sidekick sport since it hydraulic but it still broke at least once. I checked my clutch and its fine. My friend has the exact same kick and his tranny does it to. I have a 97 4 dr sidekick sport. Any answer or suggestions would be great. I'm about one more annoying sound out off the transmission away from trying to adopt another one more user friendly.

ye well i m having that noice 2 .and my first gear also sounds like reverse that buzzing sound.but i really dont know how this could be fixed .its either opening the transsmision in hope you will find something or replacing it. I thought as long as it going i m just ignoring the sounds.
but may be anyone else can help..

I thought of the ignoring approach, but it starting to not work.

The buzzing noise in the trans will come from broken synchro ring's inside the trans, this mostly can be solved by dubbel clutching ;) when changing gears. The other noise you are speaking about is coming from a broken bearing I believe, for this you have to open the trans and replace that bearing....

Is the noise permenently there or just when it's freewheeling, with no load on the drive train?
(between gears, or when coasting?)

its there during accerlation and dissapears when i let off the gas. i have checked the clutch the throw out bearing snd they are fine. i also find it odd that my friends kick has the same sound? my linksage that connects the pedal to the slave cylinder rod broke not to long ago and when i talked to the guy at the dealership he said it common for that peace to break and that sound.

Maybe an output shaft bearing?
