Title: Intake manifold Question
Post by: 99Trackerconv on November 04, 2003, 07:45:37 AM
I was messing around with my throttle cable yesterday and so I opened the butterfly and looked inside the manifold and it looked dirty and wet inside is this normal? ??? ???

I'm scared cause I thought that only air goes in there.

Obviosly I'm NOT too knowledgable about cars! :-[ PLEASE tell me it's normal. And if not what can I do to fix it?

it should be clean, a bit of black carbon buildup is ok, dirt or mud is definately no good.  do you have an air filter in place that fits properly? maybe a cracked rubber intake hose?

PCV sucks oil vapor in there, so this is a normal
condition, the vapor condenses and looks wet.

Should I get a new PCV valve? Air filter is about 6months old and pretty clean.

I wiped off the carbon buildup of the throttle body and butterfly. It's sooo shiney now. ;D
