Hey guys me again ...
Ok im sure just like in every town around the world you wouldnt want to show 2 much your sound system and get it stolen ... ya know :-/
I got myself a new Face last week Pioneer CD-R CD-RW MP3 Player 50 x 4 with XM radio ready and optional 10 cd deck ( xm & extra deck were left out ) problem is not the face it comes off... My problem is trying to hide my 10" sub + 4 Channel Kenwood amp in the back trunk .. I got my 2 back seets lifted up so it all can fit nicely ... Im adding 6x9's in the back soon and im wondering anyone got a solution to hide all that crap ?? cause now all thats hidding is my amp under some plywood(sp?) hehe
So it would be VERY nice to have suggestions and example with pictures if yall can help thank you all in advance ...

I have my amps mounted inside the back door. ;)
I challenge people to find them all the time. So far no one ever has. I got my deck thieved a coulpe mpnths ago but I would bet that they didnt even know there were amps in there! :P As for the sub, I run a box that fits behind the seat and I throw a flanel shirt and a jacket over the top of it.

Humm good idea for the amp hehe is it easy to do or a paine in the arse ???
-
I didnt think it was to hard. The hardest part is running the wiring harness through the hinge area. I drilled out bigger holes and rubber grometed it.

I hid mine in a way...
I recently went wheeling with the top off and hit a bit of mud, which ended up getting thrown on my CD radio. ÂÂ
(http://www.projecttwin.com/images/tracker/radiomud.jpg)
Not wanting to let this to continue to happen, I went to a local boat shop called West Marine.  I picked up a "Radio Splash Cover" made by Poly-Planar Inc. ÂÂ
The cover will work with a twin shaft radio or with a DIN sized radio.  If you use the DIN size you will have to cut the tabs off for the twin stick radios.
Since the cover is intended for use in a Marine environment, the door is sealed with a foam-rubber gasket, the rear portion (white area) is sealed with a gasket as well.  So the mounting surface and the door are both sealed.  Stainless steel mounting hardware is included.  Although it protects the front of the radio from water intrusion, it does nothing for the rear of the radio if you happen to swamp your vehicle.
Since the cover is wider than the stock Tracker radio trim plate, you'll have to cut into the dash panel a bit.  All that's required is some careful Dremel work and the cover will fit.
I put the cover in place, used a Sharpie to mark the dash...
About 10 minutes later I had this:
The cover has two detents where it will hold itself open...
The first...

...and second...
(http://www.projecttwin.com/images/tracker/detent2.jpg) ÂÂ
A couple more shots of it in place:

Since my radio came with a remote control, I can leave the cover closed and not worry about getting it muddy, even after a full days wheeling.  ;D
I've used these before on my Jeeps, and they work extremely well.  The cover locks closed pretty tight and can be a bear to open at times, but with the remote control feature it's not a concern.
The white frame you see has been sanded with some 220 grit and painted with black bumper paint.  It blends in nicely and your radio won't get wet if you hose out the interior.
As for the rear side panel and 6x9s:

Hey Twin? How do those 6x9's in the rear panels sound?
I have 3-way 6 inchers in there now but have been toying with the idea of moving up to 6x9's.
-
:o Wow very nice anti mud radio system hehe :o
Maybe you can make some $$ with this hehe :P
...
As for the 6x9's in the back are they mounted to anything else then the side panel ? :-/
-
The 6x9's fit fine, but the particle-board-wrapped-in-vinyl thing isn't working. They sound great, but the cheap panel needs to go. The 6x9's overpower my front Fosgate 4-inchers, all being driven with Sony's claimed 52W/Channel.
Putting the 6x9s there wasn't my idea.  When I bought the Tracker the previous owner had some ratty speakers in there, along with umpteen hundered feet of wire...connected to a radio that didn't work.
My plan is to cut some front and rear panels from aluminum, powdercoat them black (or Rhino Line/Line-X them), and rivit them to the truck.
-
Thats what I did. They will rattle. Then I used silicone and rivited it on. No more rattles.

I made a dual chamber box that would fit behind the rear seat. In one chamber I mounted a 10 and in the other I mounted my two amps and crossover with a push/pull air fan cooling set up. The power to the amps was ran to the box location and connected to a waterproof 3 prong female 110 plug and the box utalized the male match (one plug and the +,-, and remote attached) The sub amp and all wireing was self contained within the box. Then I want to a custom home stero shop and purchased a 4 spkr distribution box and used it for the output to my mid's and high's that were hidden in factory locations and dash vents. With this set up, I could remove my good stuff if I was wheeling or going somewhere I thought someone might steal it, and then with one power plug and 4 speaker plugs I could put it back in for a trip to the lake or cruise around town.

very nicely done.will be using yhat idea on my kick.lots of mud here in louisiana.thanks for the idea twin.
-
No problem, Cajun. Any decent boat shop should have them.

How about putting in an ear deafening car alarm?
I finally bought a new CD deck about a year ago after my Kenwood tape deck, after 10 years of continuously cranking heavy metal tunes, died.  I bought a new Kenwood CD player, nothing fancy, the KDC-217S Model which looks exactly like this one here:
When I bought my Sidekick in late 1993, the previous owner too had 6x9 placed in the back above the rear wheel wells.  This spring I am going to replace them with some nice new heavy duty 6x9s along with the 4's in the front which are still the stock speaker that came with it.
I've been maybe thinking of replacing the cardboard and vinyl in the back with some nice carpeted particle board.  I think it would look killer.

DANG!!! I get a 6" lift with 33's done and now I gotta install a system just to try to keep up with Mike & Zig!!!
-
Bill,
You probablt already have me beat on the sound system now. I put my goodies in my daily driver and now I rock with a Kenwood 2004 (CHEAP :P) that has so much mud in it that the CD does not load disc any more and two bass booming 4" in the dash :P

Naahhh, I cant even turn any bass on my Tracker cause the speakers are so wore out!!! I need to blow my CD player out with some air, very dusty.... The stock radio has a CD and Cassette built in so I need to start covering it when 4wheelin.

Mine's kinda basic and thrown together... but I have 6x9's in the back panels with MDF..

I also have a Fosgate box with 2 12's.. It's completely easy removeable with a 4 pin trailer plug so I can take it out to fit gear back there.

I also just got me a new head unit! It's this one:

I can finally play MP3's! It's really nice to burn one CD and have like 150 songs on it.
;D

Oh wow, Heather, that's AWESOME stuff!! I really like how the 6x9 in the wood looks!!
I LOVE the head unit! I too wanted to buy an MP3 player also, but alas, I couldn't afford it at the time and I was desperate for a new unit so I could listen to my music instead of the pure garbage they play on the radio on a daily basis.
But yeah, neat stuff. :)

I just thought of something.... :-/ I mounted a big ammo box in behind the seat for tools and stuff....No room for subs... Heather is that a fosgate punch 60 amp? I got one of those sittin in my basement if anyone is interested/looking for an amp.

Yup,
Its one of the old pre 'Power-Ranger' type 60ix's. Works great bridged mono to the subs.
