I bought the 4.16 rockcrawler gears . Intsall was fair easy , but now I only have 4 low , Ive gone back through and the only thing I can figure is I didnt line the shifting rods up when I was put it back together. has anyone had a simular prob or does anyone have any pionters on what I should do next ? Im gonna tear into it again today . I will repost when I figure out the problem ..

Is this a Sammi?? I know a guy that
when we went wheeling shifted his T
Case wrong and got "stuck" in a gear,
I don't know all the details, but he
used a BF Screwdriver to pop the shift
shafts back into place (with shifter out)
and then we was a rolling again, check
this out before tearing the whole think
apart again. Good Luck

Well its wasnt stuck in gear , it had all the spots it felt like , but three neutrals and 4 low and thats all .. now its stuck .. tried to stick a screwdriver to the shaft that shifts the gears and hold it (from a hole on the side that hold the ball that hits the groves in the shaft ).. anyway more to come ..

Dude, That sucks.
I think you need to get to sombody
thats got the sammi and knows the
T-case before you tear into it, don't
panic yet, tho you might want to and
tear it down....again.
I speak from experience, think it out
and get a second oppinion, then take
action, it beats pulling a bonehead,
and Ive done that a couple of times :-[

Sounds like you might not have the shifter fork in the right location, or you forgot to put the pin back in the shifter fork. I guess it's time to take the case apart again and see what's up. Good luck.....

Thanks for all the help , I thought it had something to do woth the shifting forks too , but it wasnt ... I was about to give up afetr I put it together again and it didnt work , But I decided that I must have done something wrong when I was puting in the gears , so I open her back up and went throght what I had added and how it had to do with the shifting .. there it was the very first gear I put on was on upside down ... so I pulled it back off turned it around , now my sammi is back on the road .. I have learned alot about transfercase in this experiance and if anyone else decides to do this im here . I hope .. the directions for the thing werent that great , they were for someone who has delt with transfer cases before, but it would have worked the first time if Id paid attention ..

might do mine now, but I got a Kick
and I think it's more work, unitized
trans a T-case, we'll see......... ;)

Thought I would reply and let yall know what I thought of my transfercase now .
I have all the power I had before the big tires back , maybe a little more thats in 2wd , in 4 low its really low I mean I bet I can climb anything now , whats scary is they have an even lower kit the 6:1, I bet its like a bull dozer .. Over all the mod isnt that hard if you take your time and pay attension to detail , (like which way the gears go on)Ha Ha ;D

Scary? I bet a 6.5:1 gear set with a 1.8:1 underdrive (total 11.7:1) must make ya piss yer pants. ;D

The trakick t case is way easier. Ive been installing trackick 4 to 1 cases in about 1 hour. If you can build a turbo from scratch, I dont think you will have a problem.

I did my 4:1 and had never had a t-case apart. Just take your time and pay attention to what you are taking apart. I used the FSM as directions. I spent more time waiting on my new bearings to come in than I did on the rebuild. (the bearingd looked fine, I just went on and replaced them while I had it apart) ;)

It's actually pretty simple to do the xfer case gear swap. Just be careful removing and installing bolts since the cases are aluminum. I had one bust off removing it because it was so corroded. PITA to have to drill a steel bolt out of an aluminum housing and then re-thread it!! I think it took me 4-5 hours from the time I started to take the xfer case out until it was re-installed. Most of that was removing and installing the case, and cleaning up dirty parts. The actual gear install took an hour or so.

SOME DAY I TOO WILL HAVE TO LOK INTO THIS...MAY HAVE FOUND A SET OF 32X9.50 SWAMPERS LIGHTLY USED WAITING ON THE PRICE :P
